Yesterday there were 850.000 people in the Netherlands living in poverty.
This morning, the number is 540.000 thousand.
On a population of 18 milion.
So, I hear you ask, how the hell did the Dutch do it?
They redefined the term poverty.
How cool is that!
So, mass shootings in the US can be solved in the same way. A mass shooting there is when 4 or more people get shot in a single episode. Make it 10 or more! Problem solved.
It goes from hundreds each year to just a handful!
I’d make a damned fine politician!

@shavixmir saidThat’s basically the explanation for why we have more illegal immigration to the US than we used to.

@Crapablunda saidThe average human has one testicle. Statistically, this is absolutely irrefutable. Torture the numbers and they’ll tell you anything.
Same deal with Democrats not reporting crimes as much.
The FBI just released a new report correcting the Democrats and 2022 was a lot worse than originally reported.
Definition is the key to successful stats.

@shavixmir saidBah. Just when I was about to ask how has this affected the numbers of homeless.

If it was just moving the goalposts, then there would be no real-world effect.
@shavixmir saidThat's a good thing, then.
On the plus side, I don’t think anyone actually starves in the Netherlands…
Over here, we get too many politicians who say, "if they're homeless and hungry, then that's the way they want it." They just don't want to spend anything to help them. They're like AvJoe, who would say, "why do I have to pay to feed them and house them", as if money is coming out of their pocket to do so.
Thank God we have a woman mayor right now who has a heart.
@shavixmir saidBlaming the victim is very popular here.
Most homeless people (in Europe then) have psychiatric issues. To blame them for their situation is a very simplistic way of looking at things.
It always amazes me that these right wing crackers have no problems funding the police and the military, but hate funding matters which would better the communities they live in.
It's one way people can act all "holier-than-thou" and think they appear reasonable.
They wouldn't be caught dead helping their fellow man. They can't get past, "They deserve what's happening to them."
I was brought up better than that. I can't imagine what the next generation of people brought up by animals like this will turn out to be like AND I can't imagine what kind of psychopaths they'll vote for.

@Suzianne saidTX criminalizes feeding homeless people. But a recent court case acquitted a defendant. Go figure.

@moonbus saidThis is just abject dehumanization. I've seen signs outside of restaurants saying "Do not feed the pigeons". Reasonable since it attracts them and they spread disease. But saying "Do not feed the humans"? And then these representatives presumably go to church and hear about how we should love our neighbor? What's wrong with them?
