A hydroelectric dam, which would provide a tremendous amount of electricity to our western states, will likely never be built, due to roadblocks of government regulations, and a plethora of liberal obstructionists in the name of environment, noise, fumes, and eradication of pet walks and yoga gardens.
Court filings will be years in the process.

You mean the Hoover Dam is never going to be built?

Darn. I've been looking forward to seeing it be built since 1931.

Sorry mate wasn’t that part of that lefty liberal “New Deal” under a Dem POTUS.
It wouldn’t get built now because of right wing obstructionists in congress.

The lesson to be learned by that is that Kennedy, a Democrat, a liberal, is the one who gave us the spark to get to the moon.

"We set sail on this new sea because there is new knowledge to be gained, and new rights to be won, and they must be won and used for the progress of all people. For space science, like nuclear science and all technology, has no conscience of its own. Whether it will become a force for good or ill depends on man, and only if the United States occupies a position of pre-eminence can we help decide whether this new ocean will be a sea of peace or a new terrifying theater of war. I do not say that we should or will go unprotected against the hostile misuse of space any more than we go unprotected against the hostile use of land or sea, but I do say that space can be explored and mastered without feeding the fires of war, without repeating the mistakes that man has made in extending his writ around this globe of ours.

"There is no strife, no prejudice, no national conflict in outer space as yet. Its hazards are hostile to us all. Its conquest deserves the best of all mankind, and its opportunity for peaceful cooperation may never come again. But why, some say, the Moon? Why choose this as our goal? And they may well ask, why climb the highest mountain? Why, 35 years ago, fly the Atlantic? Why does Rice play Texas?

"We choose to go to the Moon. We choose to go to the Moon...We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win, and the others, too."

Was???? No, no, no, I am saying if it were being built Now, by the govt (like the wall) or a private enterprise. The libs would stop it. Why, It may eradicate the endangered snail darters!!!!!
You know I'm right. Just thought I would put it in a humorous setting.

Y'all get so excited, no need. Just jawing here. Y'all keep on exploring deep space, but the subject is digging and hauling and water and concrete and noise. Blowing up rocks. Diverting water (Corps of engineers hates that). And spending money on the dam when we could be paying off student debt with the money.

Is that what you call humor?
Most people would see it for
what it actually is. Smarmy, cynical,
mean spirited sarcasm......What's funny?
William F. Buckley was good at this ploy,
Your attempt at humorous sarcasm
measures up as, truly, less than average, Joe.

BYW, originally called The Boulder Dam,
it was funded completely by The US Govt.

Actually the battle in old school conservative days (remember when they cared about money spent by the government) was opposing any government-led projects like this. The conservative movement has changed a lot too.

You people are stupid.
Joe's point was that if we had the regulations of today back in the 30's, Hoover Dam would never have been built.
Instead it was built and completed for less than the proposed budget and in less time than predicted, an unheard of thing for a gigantic govt project.
