in each case an alternative is required.
when the police do not act appropriately you can call their superiors - and eventually the politicians and media.
when a psycho quietly gets a gun - noone knows - until it is too late.

i think requirement of ownership of a gun for farming and policing can be important to that person - I think you do too Mrs Wajoma? farmers and police have a different need of guns from the rest of us.
then there are most of the remaining people who are not murderers nor farmers, nor police and mostly do not care very much.
then, Mrs Wajoma, there are also the murderous psychos ... what should happen when a psycho goes to a gun shop?

Gun control has not really done much here as the number of gun related crimes is rising ,don't know about there in NZ but it doesn't work ,people did make good money in the gun buy back scheme .
