@averagejoe1 saidRight. He was a satirist who too many people took literally. Whenever the libs took his bloviating seriously it was just funny material for the next show.
If you look upon him as an entertainer, which he was, it would have been easier to roll along, esp with his using daily life in America to key in on. And of course, we must be realistic, that in the end is all about the money. He saved AM radio, gave voice to the masses (both sides called in daily) and you cannot deny it was interesting. And he did apologize to that cr ...[text shortened]... e you ever heard that Bill Maher take on life? Whew. I'd pick Rush's philosophy, live and let live.
The problem seems to be that conservative politicians took him seriously too. That was an odd surprise. Rush wasn't a leader or policy wonk or even knowledgeable about history or how governments and democracies work. But you look around at modern-day conservatives and they've morphed into entertainers. They talk like Rush. They act like Rush. They point fingers without providing solutions. They are feckless losers.
Case in point: The Texas governor going on Fox News in the middle of humanitarian crisis in his state, and the first thing he says is "This shows how the Green New Deal would be a deadly deal for the United States of America". I mean, if Rush were still alive he'd be saying that, but an actual leader with actual responsibility and actual power to change and/or fix things? Sheeeesh. Rush's cancer is still metastasizing.

@wildgrass saidWould you call the millions who listened to his radio show and were loyal fans all losers?......

The post that was quoted here has been removedThe Latin phrase De mortuis nihil nisi bonum (also De mortuis nil nisi bene [dicendum]) "Of the dead, [say] nothing but good", abbreviated as Nil nisi bonum, is a mortuary aphorism, indicating that it is socially inappropriate to speak ill of the dead as they are unable to justify themselves.

There are some weirdoes who enjoy listening to cringe as a way to pass the time. No kink shaming. If you however start believing all that hateful crap he spewed and taking him seriously, then yes, you're a loser. Just like those that believe Sean Hannity are losers, or Tucker Carlson, or Alex Jones or Ben Shapiro.
@earl-of-trumps saidNo, actual hateful crap, not what you delude yourself to be "hateful".
@Zahlanzi - If you however start believing all that hateful crap he spewed
Geee, you mean something like what the leftists in here spew?
You should remind us what "hateful crap" you heard the "leftists in here spew" though. It might be entertaining.
Maybe it's the healthcare for all hateful notion. Maybe it's the hateful notion that everyone capable deserves education. Maybe it's the hateful notion that black people shouldn't be treated differently by the police in your country.
The post that was quoted here has been removedNo you didn't, look where the Americans are today fighting each other. It is said what goes around comes around. One Country cannot be judge, jury and executioner.
I think America should straighten out their own issues before going around the world trying to correct others.

@very-rusty saidNo not necessarily losers at all. Rush was infectious and a very effective entertainer. His work, however, does not translate to reality. It is the folks who grew up listening to him spew nonsense and are now pretending to be him in situations where they are required to make important decisions for our society. Those people are feckless losers.

Say you love Tom Cruise spy movies. You've seen them all. You imitate him riding a motorcycle through traffic or shooting guns or whatever. None of that makes you a loser. Now, if you think it's real? If you think he and you could be a spy in real life? If you go out in the world and ride a real motorcycle through traffic and jump off buildings and try to be an ACTUAL SPY after watching him in movies, then you're a loser.
