From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_national_languages_of_India
India has a diverse list of spoken languages among different groups of people. At least 800 different languages and around 2000 dialects have been identified.[citation needed] The Constitution of India has stipulated the usage of Hindi and English to be the two languages of communication for the federal Central Government. However, the state governments use their own language along with English for communication with the Central government.
For example, the central government sends its information in Hindi and English to the state of Assam and this state communicates back in Assamese and English. Similarly, information from the center to Tamil Nadu is in English and Hindi and this state communicates back in Tamil and English.
Use, legal status of official languages
India has a list of 23 official languages (including Hindi and English). These languages are entitled to representation on the Official Language Commission, and a candidate in an examination conducted for national government service may opt to take the exam in any of these languages. In most of the northern states, Hindi is popular as a source or means of communication among the masses in this region. Such use of Hindi in southern states is not widespread since the official language of each state tends to be dominant, which is quite natural most of the languages are at least 500 years old and has very well defined grammar. Poetry, Philosophical Ideas, language constructs (e.g. Simili, Metaphor) were grown in each language, which is tantamount to having a 'language civilization'. This is possible because India was ruled by many dynasties of kings over a period of 1000 years who followed their own religion and who promoted their own language.
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Indian_languages_by_total_speakers
Hindi India's national language is spoken by 337 million people of a total population of 1.1 billion people or 30.6 % population speaks the national language.

Right - so now your delusion is that I don't work, rather than that I'm old.
Have they changed your medication then?
Care to share your wisdom regarding ethnic cleansing then?
Tell us, why did you disappear? Were you draining again public funds?
Edit. One day you will understand that it's better to shut your mouth
when you don't know about something. The problem with Estonia
is not the language itself. It is even perfect to have two or more official
languages because that broadens the people's culture. The problem
with Estonia (which you obviously do not know) is the tremendous
social and economic problem caused by hundreds of thousands of
Russians who are mining the society from within because they still
feel they are the still owners of the country.
Mexicans do not feel nowadays they own the U.S.
Swedes do not feel nowadays they own Finland.
Catalans do not feel nowadays they own Spain.
Etcetera.
The former USSR Republics are a special case because of the history.

My refutation to your proposed only 1 national language and everyone of a country should know the national language to be a citizen of the country and all that bull**** .
Originally posted by druidraviI never said there can be only one language. People should be able to speak as many or few languages as they want. As long as they can communicate with their government, language isn't a problem.

I never said there can be only one language.
Isn't this suggesting that if they don't learn the language they should shove off?
Seems pretty much you're stating they NEED to speak A language there dude.

I got caught trying to defend a specific part of a statement there. Language isn't the real problem. Problems arise when subcultures live by their own rules. Which seems to be the case with the Russians in Estonia. Integration of immigrants helps eliminate that so multiple cultures can work together toward a common goal or cause or whatever we want to call it.

What makes you think I'd disappeared? You do know we have an election here?
I've already said that I respect Estonia's right to do this. You make irrelevant points about how you think the Russians behave. I'm arguing with your idea that the Russians should be deported.

Please enlighten us about 'ethnic cleansing'.
Some of the 'Estonians' I knew where born from Russians parents.
Were they etnhicaly cleaned because they went to an Estonian school?
And no, record this in your aging mind, chap: Russians should NOT be
deported. Russian-born People that do not show signs of embracing
the country
should be deported, i.e. not attending their State-paid language and
culture classes, being convicted of belonging to the Russian mafia, etc.

Scotland is not important for the rest of Europe, old man. So I heard
something but I never thought you would be doing something in it...
you spent all of your time here at RHP anyway.
So what's up... were you defeated again?
You're completely delusional, which is really only worthy of pity.
