Here's an article bringing together a few viewpoints on GWB's 'cultural legacy' (David Simon's being the most succinct:
Enron, Afghanistan, Iraq, New Orleans, Wall Street. An untenable drug war. A non-existent energy policy. An obliviousness to climate change. An unwillingness to recognise our problems, much less begin the hard work of solving them. Incompetence - rank incompetence - has become the American standard. We are no longer a competent, responsible nation state. America. The can't-do superpower. Quite a legacy. Mr Bush is a remarkable man.)

Debates forum readers probably aren't interested in culture (well, are you?) ... but I'm sure you have views on Bush's legacy, cultural or otherwise. Let's have them ...

After all, it seems that art can gain an extra-dimension if there is the need to raise social awareness. The strange thing is that this makes it even harder to understand why we have a seemingly globally disinspired period.

he made me laugh on many occasions.
dont blame him for being dumb,
blame the fools that put him in office.

Even the CIA called them "the crazies".
Yes. He did make me laugh. However, I still hope his carcass rots forever in hell.

Originally posted by RedmikeThats too subtle a truth to ever stop the uninspired making it into high office. With voting not being compulsory, the Rove expectation (of being able to fool some of the people all of the time) comes into effect and before you know it Americans start seeing themselves as insular simplistic peoples where every problem they experience is really someone elses fault.
No, it shows that when you elect a right-wing fool, they will do right-wing, foolish things.
At least even though you can fool all of the people some of the time (2004) the fact that you can't fool all of the people all of the time finally asserted itself.

illegally phone tapping his own people, blocking stem cell research, lowering minimum wage to 1950's levels, approving torture, going to war because God told him to.
(Or should I say; 'Glod' told him to).
An abject moron whose greatest achievement was to make Ronnie Raygun look like a genius.
Originally posted by RedmikePresident Bush is hardly right wing and hardly a fool. Also, I noticed that your post doesn't address left wing fools. In fairness, have you considered that former president, Jimmy Carter was a left wing fool who did left wing foolish things?

George Bush - Legacy? - President MIA. All but invisible to the corporations and complexes that ran him. The first Chinese - American President.
