No joe nothing you’ve ever said has ever made me think because you don’t think before you say it. You just let a stream of utter nonsense cascade out of your fingers and onto a keyboard.
Having environmental regulations pertaining to the activities of individuals or corporations is not an attack on freedom anymore than any other laws for which there are consequences associa ...[text shortened]... porations are above the law especially if they are lining the pockets of your favourite politicians.
If we remove the ad hominem from your post, you are simply saying that 'environmental regulations are necessary', or course, and that there should never be any attacks on freedom. That, the breaking of laws comes with consequences. Could not have said it better myself. But your comments are elementary and superfluous.
Then you say we need to have justice, and then you say we need govt protection from any and all exploitive practices. That is true, another superfluous comment. zzzzzzzzzzz
Then, you say, for some reason that I don't know, that I, AvJoe, believe that corps are above the law? You of course know that no one believes that corps are above the law. So why would you say that? Too rile me? You libs are a mess this week. This post has zero traction, zero teeth. I think I will go read Sonhouse.

Economic freedom is a very vague term.
It can mean free market freedom for companies, which often leads to poverty and no economic freedom for individuals.

Socialism tends to curb free market economic freedom, leading to individuals having more money and freedom to do what they want with that money.

The average European has a good healthcare package, 5 weeks paid vacation a year and works less than 40 hours a week.

Where’s the lack of freedom in that?
There are also plenty of billionaires and millionaires in European countries. European countries and Canada also have better food and drug consumer protections. Unrestrained business practices led to the 2008 meltdown.

Economic Freedom: One may own property, make choices of what to buy and sell, make profit, engage in any way they please. The ultimate bosses are the consumers. We have choice.
The socialist system FORBIDS the fundamental right to choose one's own career. There is only one economic authority, and it has the right to determine all matters of production.
In so ...[text shortened]... would 'feel free' living under such restrictions. I would ask him, but he is easily upset with me.
You really are clueless. Even people in China can now own their own businesses and homes. Do you think Europeans cannot own their homes and businesses and buy great quantities of future landfill just like we do in the States? Wow, you really are ignorant.

What is the average European inflation rate right now?
If you have economic freedom does that mean the money supply was increased more than the growth rate justified due to a referendum vote?
For the most part, higher than ours.

Well, you clearly haven't been to either the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam, or the Kröller-Müller in Otterlo, then. I've been to both. Goodbye.

You know what I mean.
No I don't. How could anyone, especially when you are so clearly prone to misreading the posts of others?

I am speaking of socialist doctrine, slanthead. Not ‘countries in Europe’. And you get so angry asyou convolute my post. Why get angry and all wadded up, when you take off unfairly on little AvJoe?
Now tell everyone you jumped the gun, I would not want a bad
reputation. And note at least two of us want socialism. Look up the def, which is what I said it was, and feel creepy about the company we keep. I have a feeling that Marauder has a tad more “than he requires”. πŸ‡·πŸ‡Ί Marx would not be happy!

I suspect you are too principled for this, but have you ever considered joining the ranks of the Champagne Socialists? πŸ˜‰

I do get what you say about having something completely paid for by someone else, and wondering if there is some unspoken "now you owe me/us" attached -- kind of like a generous "gift" from a mob boss.

Another thing coming up in our probability ...[text shortened]... c ectoplasm that can be found in the comments section beneath most news articles of the present day.
This is where this turkey hangs ‘chMpagne Socialist “ on me, the innocent average Joe.
Tell everyone you were wrong.

Correct. Under capitalism, you have the economic freedom to starve on the street.
Or, get a job.

So you assume the government would say the arts are worthless, man needs to WORK and WE decide what work is? Painting not allowed, no sculptures, no music, no dance, no architecture, we don't need archeologists, that is about the past.
Is that what you really think would happen in a socialist government?
I think you are soaked in hyperbole.
Socialism is govt controlled, so yes, govt would decide what is best for everyone. If they told Van Gogh his paintings were crapped, he would be forced to quit.
Note I speak of pure socialism. You boys are all over the place in this thread about different hybrid concepts.
I write of socialism
Libs have no concept of the issues in debate. You all yap like children.
Yes Sonhouse, whatyou say is exactly what I, and Wiki et al, assume.

sonhouse has gotten his way. We are more like Russia because we have to fight imaginary ties with Russia. Yuri Andropov must be laughing in his grave.

The west is now more oppressive than Russia ever was....all to fight imaginary ties to Russia. Clown world.
