There have already been three mass extinction events in the history of our little planet, the worst one wiping out an estimated 95% of life. Long term, if we want to survive, we probably need to have a second home somewhere, prefereably a long long way away.

Bush seems very competent at remaining in power. It seems its up to someone better to beat him/them.

its only required that the right people see the light.

I agree. We should concentrate on what we have here. If we give up ideas like leaving earth one day, maybe we will learn to look after it more. After all it's the only home we have.

If we think too much about moving to other planets we will just end up completely ruining this one.

And also, we'd just move and within time we'd have to move again because we will have knackered a whole new planet.

Can you really believe that?

It doesn't matter how well we look after it. It's simply a matter of numbers. Eventually, we will need to expand out into space, if only because we run out of room and/or resourses here on earth. To stay here is NOT an option in the long run. The Earth is the only home we have, only as long as we refuse to move... Doh!

Who cares if we then destoy the next planet we colonise? There is an umlimited supply of planets out there, waiting for us to plunder them 🙂

Its questionable that we are currently in the sixth mass extinction, so if you care there have already been 5 mass extinctions.......

i really liked you until you said Bush is competent.
The only competent thing about Bush is that he is literate enough to read the speeches his advisors write for him and to push Amerika into war so he can raise the military budget.

Bush is very competent: to look dum and act stupid.
What does Bush has to do with going out in space. If anything, Bush will militarise the outer space so he can battle terrorism, not colonisation.

Well didn't you know Bin Laden is going to send Al Quida operatives
to the moon? he has a secret space program and the plan is to
completely overrun the little moon base Bush has planned and
declare a victory in outer space. Duh. I thought you knew that.
Obviously, Bush has to militarize space, you want Bin Laden on Mars?

i only said he/them is/are competent at remaining in power. This is proven.

I think he and Blair and all the rest of the selfish greedy nasty little feckers should be dragged into the street, stripped and beaten.

It was only raised in answer to a previous post. I think he, and politicians in general get to much attention and credit from all sides. After all since when did we expect more from them.

hope this means you like me again

Of course it does, whe are like a disease spreading though the galaxy exploiting every usefull planet until its useless and dead. And then we move on to other planets and destroy them. So maybe the universe is a big living creature and we are a disease inside of it.
