The people who're being kicked off their land are the Bedouin, discussed elsewhere.
You make it sound as if they were kicked from a settlement because Jews desired it, then after they were kicked out the Jews moved in. In reality, the Bedouins construct structures on land not belonging to them without proper aut ...[text shortened]... Anyway, it does not discriminate between Jewish CITIZENS and not-Jewish CITIZENS.
For example, there was a case in Haifa, where someone advertised for a Arabic speaking phone operator, but specified military service as a pre-requisite.
Also, those israeli citizens who aren't subject to the miltary draft (ie non-jewish people), don't get the same rights in terms of housing. It was only in 1994 that the social security child allowance for those who hadn't served in the military or jewish religious schools was equalised with those who hadn't.
In immigration, the position is clear - if you're jewish, you have automatic citizenship. If you're not, you don't. If that isn't discrimination, I don't know what is.
What other countries may or may not do isn't the point. Israel's policy discriminates against non-jewish people.
The position re the Bedioun has been dealt with elasewhere, I think.
Disinterested scientific studies of the behaviors of soldiers deployed in combat zones while in the midst of foreign and potentially hostile, yet unarmed civilians, reveals the kind of stress that leads to soldiers committing acts of violence against civilians. Young men are not mentally tough enough, by and large, to restrain themselves in the face of the kind of stress modern warfare causes because the battlefield is now in the midst of civilian populations, not out in some convenient meadow or large expanse of empty land populated only by opposing troops.
In other words, there is nothing special about any nationality or group with regard to how their young men will behave under the conditions of modern warfare towards civilians in a war zone.
All young human males tend to take only so much of this stress before they crack and act out their anger and fear though mindless and unjustifiable violence against unarmed civilians.
This is not an excuse -- it is simply the way it is.
The cure is to stop sending troops to do what even police tend to get wrong. The tendency of the human male to act out his stress-induced mental problems is universal.
One grows tired of the ranting around here trying to pin the tail on just one particular donkey -- we're all human, and if we young enough and are deployed as combat troops among a foreign population, we are going to misbehave, go off our nut -- act, in short, like the asses all young men are.
It takes years of experience to gain the perspective, the wisdom, and the courage to stop acting out, to stop emoting, to stop letting testosterone and adrenalin call the shots instead of one's brain informed by education and values. To expect more from young men is foolish.
To draw moral or political conclusions from the behavior of young men is worse than foolish -- it is malicious nonsense.
