2) Yes. Because it is lazy. That is how we get "Saddam the Great" and "Our Beloved Stalin" and "Pol Pot... The Great Uncle"
So, the argument is that it's wrong because it's lazy? That sounds like a case of accepting the conclusion first and coming up with the reasoning later.

Swearing is wrong, because it tend to enforce a generally unpleasant image or is of a threatening manner. Ofcourse we can become 'desensitised' to it, though why should we have to ?

Under normal circumstances it is not a problem eg: in a pub, or a bunch of guys hanging out, however the problem lies (always) when another person enters the frame and overhears the conversation.

It's funny. I spent time in my first year of residence amoungst a bunch of cussing guys and within a short period of time picked it up. Fortunitely a friend of mine commented on my vernacular and I realised I was indeed cussing alot. Hehe, my wife doesn't allow me to swear at all, so I'm pretty sensitised again 🙂

This is silly, saying "fu*k" quitely is considerd worse by most people than saying "damm" in a aggresive way. I agree it sounds bad when said as a insult or aggressively. But I dont know why the words themselves should cause offence if utterd in a normal mannar.
I hate it when people consider other people to have a "dirty" mouth just because the listener is told by the law/there parents etc that certan words are "offensive".
If the word "hate" was shown on a childrens show no one would care however if the word "fu*k" was shown there would be outrage. Hate is more offensive than a word which describes human reproduction.
It is not a matter of becoming ensensitive to something, it is a matter of understanding that there is nothing to be offended by.

Ok, the "fcuk" work, generally implies rough intercourse. It's the type you would generally see when you watch porn. Perhaps you are familiar with this. It is quite graphic. Not everyone wants to think about sex in a normal conversation. Imagine a word exists, call it 'filli', and it litterally means your mothers rectum. It is a demeaning term for your mothers rectum, much like many consider 'fcuk' a demeaning term for 'making love'. Now the question is, do you really want to be thining about your mothers rectum while having a normal conversation about the weekends football ? 😕

The only thing regarding swearing that I don't like is the overuse of swear words. It's become so common to describe everything as f*cking this, f*cking that.
The reason I don't like this however, is not the one you might expect. I am not really offended by such use of this kind of language, it's just that I want to have a word that I can keep in reserve for when I'm really angry.

One thing people often miss when talking about swearing is that what is considered a terrible word at one time often loses it's impact over time. If you go back a hundred years, maybe a bit more, "Damn you" would have been among the worst possible things to say to someone, literally damning them to hell. These days, people use 'damn' all over the place, and it's hardly considered a swear word anymore.

Swearing is bad as it is supposed to be offensive, but the funny thing is the level of offense taken to any given person is controlled by the person the abuse is aimed at rather than the abuser.

If I go up to 5 random people in the street and call them a "f*cking cu=t", using the same tone, volume and expression, all 5 will be offended in a unique way. It is the same as if I say took a picture of a cat being experemented on, 5 people would show emotions from either indifference to disgust. So to me, swearing is just an emotional trigger, which means it can be positive as well as negative. As in any form of language it can define people acceptance and placing in a group.

If your boss stars swearing in your company its probably a sign he trusts and accepts you, or that he hates you? If you see a girl in the street look at you mates and say "fu+k me" is that a complement or an insult? It all depends on the situation and how people react to that emotional triggger.

So is it wrong to swear in absoulute terms? No, its part of our language. Is it wrong to willing try to offend someone for no reason, absolutely.
