@averagejoe1 saidGood morning Wildgrass. You must have missed the question. I am re-posting right here. Why do you liberals not answer questions. There are two simple questions here. Note that they have nothing to do with musk.
Give me break, I mentioned government twice in that first question paragraph. Of course I know that. But the crux of my question is to ask you folks on the forum what do you think that Congress should do… To solve the problems that are driving you liberals crazy.
2 issues. The money that people would be allowed to make, and how many assets such as cars or homes should they be limited to.
@averagejoe1 saidAnswer your own dang question then. Who decided to give your friend all that free money?
I ‘know a person who got rich with what we call OTP…. Other peoples money. Yep, borrowed his seed money, and, yeah, invested it and is doing quite well.
So did Musk.
You fellers write like you have no understanding of economics, finance, etc. You are so dam emotional.
In Musk's case, a huge chunk came from the government.
@wildgrass saidI know, the questions I ask are difficult for libs.

You should do a thread on question difficulties . Try this one. Should Biden put equity over efficiency?
Or, why are you going to vote for Biden?
@averagejoe1 saidWhy not answer the question you originally asked?

I think that everyone gets to keep all income and assets he acquires subject to taxes. Jay Leno has 200 cars, I have a few houses, and so it goes. We get to keep them.
The crux is, how much do you think the government should tax the rich, and should they restrict how much stuff they have? My answer is that the taxes are as high as they should be, that the problem is how the government spends it.
As to assets, we should have freedom to own as many toys as we would like to. It hurts no one how much money or how much stuff I have.
So, what say you? Alert..... Marauder will differ with me. But he wont zero in on this question.
@averagejoe1 saidNo one has a problem with Jay, just your average hundred millionaire. But that's like comparing an ant to a grizzly bear. Jay leno is more than 1000x poorer than Elon Musk.
Of course.

At the billions level, Elon, Jeff bezos, bill gates, all were handed billions by the government to build what they built. In part, they are federally funded billionaires.
Elon's earnings? $2 million per hour on average over the past 10 years. He works hard and is smart and all, but that's not a sign of a healthy economy.
@wildgrass saidWhatever. Is the issue a healthy economy? No, it is not. How should the congress decide how much a person should have , or earn, and how many assets, like houses and boats, should he be allowed to have?

Y'all lament constantly about these guys, that something should be done about it......"$2M an hour...". But WHAT? Why leave us in limbo, why leave us hanging with your saying something should be done? What?
That is the simple question. You have no problem with Jay, but.......what?.....Elon has just too much? Will you not comment on what would have happened if the government, or you, would have been on Henry Ford's ass during his heyday????
Can you not debate?
@averagejoe1 saidYes the issue is an unhealthy economy.

Yes the issue is you have no problem with governments giving millions of dollars to billionaires, you only have a problem with governments giving money to poor people.
The solution is to have the billionaires start paying taxes and stop relying on us taxpayers to fill up their yachts.
@wildgrass saidSo assuming the govt is 'giving' billionaires money, should no more be 'given' to billionaires, even if our elected congressmen subscribe to the methodology of such 'gifts'? Do you think that such payments are justified? What is the program, the source of these free gifts of money.....or, are you pulling my leg?

@no1marauder saidThe absurdity of what system? IS everyone getting this? Marauder appears to believe in a 'present system' which would serve the purpose of regulating the 'ownership of things'.
I'm not wasting time with your ignorant a** anymore.
If someone as monumentally stupid as you actually owns such things (which I severely doubt), it simply shows the absurdity of the present system.
brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Wildgrass? Are you of this mind?
@averagejoe1 saidThe list is really long. Republican, Democrat, all ideologies, it does not matter. Billionaires use a large variety of modalities to bilk their wealth from gullible taxpayers like yourself, padding politicians pockets while they go. Musk would be a lot poorer without government welfare. He might even be as poor as Jay Leno with his 200 vintage cars.

Here's just one of hundreds of examples:
New York state is spending $750 million to build a solar panel factory in Buffalo for SolarCity. The San Mateo, Calif.-based company will lease the plant for $1 a year. It will not pay property taxes for a decade, which would otherwise total an estimated $260 million.
The federal government also provides grants or tax credits to cover 30% of the cost of solar installations. SolarCity reported receiving $497.5 million in direct grants from the Treasury Department.
Frankly I'm surprised you like these guys. Come on, are you telling me a single person can make $2 million per hour consistently for an entire decade, through legitimate means? Please.
Tax the guy. Steal back the wealth he already took from taxpayers.

@wildgrass saidIf he has broken no laws, he has stolen no wealth. That is the underlying thread of your post, which renders it fractured.

As to $2M in your sleep, if you have Hess Corp in your IRA account, as I do, you made a lot of money in your sleep last year.
So using your logic, tell us what is wrong with that. Or, should your nazi govt do something about it. About the wealth when you were asleep.
@AverageJoe1
Oh, I get your reasoning now . Our profit is acceptable to you libs, but the profit of Elon is too much?: Is that what you are saying? Can you please elaborate on that?
@averagejoe1 saidHe has broken laws, multiple times, agreeing to pay huge fines for violating labor agreements and securities fraud.

Beyond that, the buildings and factories he "built" on his way to being worth 1,000 Jay Leno equivalents was all taxpayer funded. You worship his hard work and creativity but his business practices that lead to the extreme wealth of billionaires required extortion and bribery of public officials.
I'm sorry I don't worship that like you do.
I don't care how much money you have or how hard you work. But if you're a billionaire and all your wealth is generated off the backs of taxpayers (and you pay no taxes) then that's a terrible deal for the rest of society. How can you not call that stealing?
@wildgrass saidYou are as much a lightweight as the Mr Thousand poster.
He has broken laws, multiple times, agreeing to pay huge fines for violating labor agreements and securities fraud.

You said above..." Steal back the wealth he already took from the taxpayers". With regard to THAT money which is the issue, he did NOT steal it.
So, your extraneous comment above in this post about securities fraud and fines and labor agreements is irrelevant to your statement to take back wealth he stole from taxpayers . The money derived from the government is legal. You will not directly answer a question. It's OK. You can stop now. Sonhouse is looking for company.
