BTW, greed is NOT human nature, it has become human CULTURE. For example, why do you take a bath everyday? You don't actually have to do that for your very survival, most animals in the wild to not bathe themselves everday, it has just become part of your accepted culture to do so. Capitalism, unfortunenately, will never go away. Those who have benefited from it (ie: the multi-millionaires) will use their power and money to keep it, and those who beleive US propaganda that they shouldn't bash a millionaire because they themselves will get millions if they "work hard" (ie: the minions of millionaires, ie: Republicans like slimjim) ...[text shortened]... nsequently all for nothing, all for a capitalist dream that is unattainable and unrealistic. . .
Humans, like most animals, are made to do what's best for them. In the current situation people will try to gain power and money, because that increases their chance of survival.
If you have a situation where solidarity increases your chances of a better life, people will opt for that instead.
The more money and power and poverty and anguish are polarised (which is happening as we speak), the more people will look for alternative means to have a better chance of survival.

Destroy this comment with logic.

seems to me that the porn market is drooping in any case.
i'm sure women aren't too keen on the tough selfish bastards that demand pre-nuptial agreements.
in any case i don't think that being one increases your chances of survival - probably reduces it.

Bathing everyday gives your body no chance to be in contact and build resistance to bad bacteria, which lowers your immune system, which is a bad thing, but our overcrowded society say u have to bath every day.
BO is another major no no these days, so people are forced by a form of peer pressure to smother themselves in antiperspirant. The fact that anti-perspirants are one of the leading cause of breast cancer is swept aside so long as everyone smells nice.

Do you know how big the antiperspirant industry is?
How long did it take governments to pressure tobacco companies into admitting that cigarettes were bad for you?

The number of future world wide 'socialists' or 'commies' to all the narrow minded, self serving, pro capitalists is forever falling, the youth of the developed world is constantly bombarded with capitalistic brainwashing, and socialism will become extinct, a myth, given globalisation is a continuing process. The people who REALLY control the world have such a strong grip that the opportunity for change has passed.
Shavix believes that the workers may rise up due to the consequence of capitalism, in my view you would have to explain what 'socialism' is! given a few generations, as its the capitalists 'educating?' the masses.
The people who should be most trusted with power are the least likely to become involved in politics and vice versa, Catch 22!
Originally posted by TexasCowboyIts a pity that the real money is in cancer treatment rather than cancer prevention. If corporations weren't making billions of dollars from treating cancer patients I'm sure we'd see a lot more publicity of cancer causing items, not just antiperspirant, but processed foods, toothpastes, etc.

Studies are funded by either corporations or special interests groups, in the main. They go to a lab and say they want a study carried out to prove such and such, giving the lab the result they want proved. The lab then go about proving that result, dismissing any data which disproves it.
My gf worked in an american multi-national pharmaceutical corporation in the Quality and Assurance labs. They created testing kids for a multitude of diseases/viri including ecoli , AIDS and loads of other STDs. My gf actually had to pull up her boss on at least one instance, because, due to pressure from above, he was taking data which supported the result he was looking for and disregarded data which showed the kits wouldn't work. This is going on all the time.
Patents within the pharma industry are a joke as well. Her company designed a testing kit for something (forget what) which was much better than the competitors kit. It diagnosed faster and had a higher accuracy of results. We, the people, didn't have access to this vastly improved kit, because the other company had the patent on the kit.
The joys of capitalism my friend.

Socialism will never arrive through the barrel of a gun. Violent revolutions inevitably push the most reactionary elements of the movement to the forefront. By the time the revolution is won, it is invariably no longer worth winning. Even in the Spanish Civil War (whose revolutionary movement showed the greatest promise), the pressures of defeating the Nationalists invariably led to the demise of the anarchist wing and the ascendancy of the Stalinist wing. By then the revolution was no longer worth winning, and indeed it was defeated soon after.
Socialism will only come through non-violent, gradualist means. I disagree with people who claim everyone is an apathetic tool of the capitalist propoganda machine. There are plenty of people out there who want to change the system. Look at all the demonstrations we have seen against the WTO, or in the anti-war movement, for example. But you can't change the entire system overnight. It'll have to start with the proliferation of co-ops, worker owned businesses, intentional communties, etc. You'll have to show people that there is a viable alternative to the capitalist system. Start with a cooperative movement within the capitalist system and build from there. Gradually that movement can disassociate itself from capitalist system altogether and perhaps even become the dominant mode of relation within society. Only then will you see the state "wither away" as the Leninists claimed it would.
