it promotes seperatism. It also promotes pride and
exposes people to the 'greats' of other continents.
Have you ever heard of race related violence at the
olympics? If the feeling of seperatism were that great,
you would expect a few regular incidents.
As for the richer countries getting more medals, this
maybe true for some of the more technical events but
not so much for track and field.

Firstly I'm truly impressed you've achieved pure objectivity and
that you're still able to relay this information to us mortals.
As for a barrier to....racism and capitalism, these aren't the problem.
It's OK to prefer ones own kind or to covet money and posessions.
it's the perversion of these things that can lead to violence and
oppression. It is greed and bigotry that are the problems and
capatalism and racism are the mechanisms through which they act.
The Olympics doesn't represent either of these.
