There used to be a serious conservative intellectual movement with people like Edmond Burke, Adam Smith and Milton Friedman as their guiding lights.
Now right wingers have nothing better than hate directed at a traditionally repressed minorities with ample sprinkles of white supremacy. And since such ideas are pretty unpopular in 21st century America, they must link it to an antidemocratic ideology.

The person in my photograph didn't have any direct part in writing the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution though he was one of the intellectual pillars of the philosophy behind both.
