He's talking to some Republicans, just not the ones who are inevitably going to confirm whoever Trump names. That is Republicans turned off by Trump's antics and hyperpartisanship; not a large slice of voters but ones it would really hurt Trump to lose.

They would be included in my swing voters if their already wavering republicans and the Dems need to wring the last bit of righteous indignation out of this most cynical of moves by the GOP and Trump.

Nope. We're closer to election day. Republicans vulnerable will thread more carefully. Americans care more about the subject.

slim chance is better than no chance. Him blabbing platitudes is better than staying silent. Already he is signaling he will basically be a republican lite president. There are plenty of republicans who might feel they could sleep better at night with him in the White House.

It isn't inevitable. It ain't over until the fat lady sings. Some republicans might flip. Some spineless democrats might grow a spine and not flip.
