A very good read.
A quote from a US Marshall stood out for me
“I can’t walk outside without being in fear for my life,” he said. “I am
worried for my life, every time I walk outside of the building.”
I thought it ironic.
it is what the demonstrations are about.
@wolfgang59 saidWhat really is the purpose to the demonstrations? It seems they have shifted in meaning.

it is what the demonstrations are about.
It was a protest in a show of solidarity for a black man that was murdered by a policeman
eight weeks ago, and has now devolved into getting federal officers protecting
the federal courthouse. 8 cities now, have federal courthouses that have been attacked.
In Portland, three federal officers protecting the courthouse were blinded by
protesters with lasers.
Happy days. They sure are sending a message.
@earl-of-trumps saidA wise old man once said that most of human misery is caused by wealth inequality. The greater the wealth inequality the greater the anger and misery, which eventually leads to total destruction of society.

Well, who’d a thunk it?

2. Three officers "blinded"? (Doubtful!) How many protesters illegally hurt?
3. Message? Trump is trying to change the narrative - hoping to win on a "law & order" ticket.
@bunnyknight saidWas that wise old man named Karl Marx?

Making people "equal" economically is an impossibility. Period.
The corrupt leaders of any such society attempting economic equality will
*always* cheat the system because leaders always think they are exempt from
common law, and clearly entitled. And by definition, they are totalitarians,
which means, you cannot stop them from "rewarding themselves".
Beyond that, we see what happens to society when you approach economic
equality, total destruction of society's economy and agriculture. Witness, USSR,
China (until they incorporated capitalism), The eastern Bloc nations, North
Korea, East Germany, Cuba, and now Venezuela. (and others)
Social engineering is far too complicated for one-gun ideologs.
1. Why defend couthouses when the obvious cost is lives of protesters and law enforcement?
So if China invades, why fight them when there will be obvious loss of life? 🤔
2. Three officers "blinded"? (Doubtful!) How many protesters illegally hurt?
"illegally"? doubtful. From what I could see in that article, the "mob" went fed
hunting. And the feds clearly have the right to defend themselves and proeprty
3. Message? Trump is trying to change the narrative - hoping to win on a "law & order" ticket.
As I have said, I would not do what Trump is doing.
But caution, the Feds do have the right to protect federal property. Period.
I don't know why you have a hard time seeing that, nor do I understand why
you think that the "protesters" should have the right to destroy property.
The whole idea of a constabulary is to stand up to bullies that rob, steal,
and do bodily damage to innocent people.
And like I said, we know who went looking for who. Open and shut case.
If you are so concerned about injury to people, you should want the protesters
to go home, or at the very least be, "peaceful"

A man asks the "police/feds" what they are doing and is then bludgeoned (broken arm)?
A peaceful line of mothers are tear-gassed and pepper-sprayed?
THIS IS NOT FEDS DEFENDING THEMSELVES.
This is Trump's controllers wanting to make the story CHAOS v TRUMP simple

The fact that peaceful protesters are there at all should tell you
the depth of feeling that is felt by the community. People are
angry. If I was there and in my twenties I might be throwing bottles
but in my sixties I'd be there behind a shield.
Do you want the right of thousands to protest to be curtailed by dozens of rioters?
28 Jul 20
@wolfgang59 saidCertainly not. Are you saying that what the protesters are doing is the equivalent
Are you equating invasion by another country with graffiti on a building?
to writing graffiti? not even close. Re-read the article.
The protesters deliberately set out to go to the courthouse that the feds were
protecting. They hit the feds with things like fireworks and other explosives, shot
them in the eyes with lasers, and have tried to set the building on fire.
This is dangerous criminal behavior. Action should be taken.
@wolfgang59 saidNo question this is CONFRONTATION. From the article, it is clear who started it,

the protesters. The protesters can never *dictate* anyone's right to be in
Portland, let alone federal troops on federal property, defending it.
Unless you think that only protesters have the constitutional right to free assembly.
I guess that is the BULLY in them. They think they have the right to take control.
