The senior US prosecutor investigating links between Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein has vowed to carry on with his enquiries despite a dramatic attempt by the Trump administration to force him to resign.
But it also comes at a delicate time in the inquiry led by Berman, the US attorney in Manhattan, into Prince Andrew’s links to convicted sex offender Epstein.

In June, President Donald Trump fired New York's top federal prosecutor, Geoffrey Berman.
Berman, who Trump nominated as the US Attorney for the Southern District Attorney job in the first place, had overseen multiple prosecutions of Trump's associates. He had also prosecuted Jeffrey Epstein, a one-time Trump friend, on sex-trafficking charges.

All the Ways President Donald Trump is Connected to Ghislaine Maxwell
The accused Jeffrey Epstein accomplice was a regular in the same New York–Palm Beach social circuit.
Trump has known Maxwell for decades, and while it is unusual for a sitting President to comment on an ongoing criminal investigation, let alone offer verbal support to the accused, Trump has done so on several occasions, including during the prosecution of Roger Stone and Michael Flynn.
This time his words of support sparked an immediate and prolonged backlash. In an interview that aired August 3, Axios national political correspondent Jonathan Swan asked, “Mr. President, Ghilaine Maxwell has been arrested on allegations of child sex trafficking. Why would you wish such a person well?” In the following exchange, he doubled down on his statement. “Her boyfriend was either killed or committed suicide in jail. She’s now in jail. Yeah, I wish her well.”
In 2000, Maxwell and Trump were seated next to each other at a fashion show for designer Anand Jon. During her modeling career, President Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, sometimes worked as a model at Jon’s runway shows.
Jon, who won numerous fashion awards and appeared on America’s Next Top Model, was arrested in 2007 and charged with rape, sexual battery, lewd acts on a child, and other offenses. He is currently serving a 59-year-to-life sentence for rape.
The Prince Andrew Connection
President Trump also has a connection to Prince Andrew, a longtime friend of Ghislaine Maxwell and one-time friend of Jeffrey Epstein’s. In December 2019, after a poorly received television interview in which the Duke of York attempted to explain his relationship with Epstein, Trump told reporters in London “I don't know Prince Andrew,
But a 2000 People magazine interview resurfaced, in which Trump was quoted saying of Prince Andrew, “He’s not pretentious. He’s a lot of fun to be with.” In the same story, Trump also told People that his then-girlfriend Melania, had chatted with the Duke at a halloween party.
Adding from the previous thread, with 6 and 7 being new points:
1) Trump and Epstein were friends, shown partying together back in 1992
2) Epstein conducted recruitment of underage girls for sex trafficking at Trump's Mar-A-Lago
3) In 1994, Both Trump and Epstein have lawsuit accusing them of raping a 13 year old, dismissed only due to filing errors
4) Trump hires a man responsible for Epstein receiving a drastically reduced sentence for child sex trafficking, to be Trump's Labor Secretary
5) Trump's Labor Secretary, Alex Acosta, slashes funds to fight child sex trafficking by 80 percent.
6) Trump is also connected to Epstein's girlfriend and accomplice, Maxwell.
7) Trump has connections to Prince Andrew and fired the lead investigator into Prince Andrew's dealings with Epstein
Like I asked last time: why is no one talking about this?
@vivify
There are clear connections, no doubt. No smoking gun yet.
And there may never be because a) he is not guilty, or b) as long as he does
what is told him, he has protection to be able to stay in office.
Just as an aside, while at the Mar-a-Lago party, Epstein hit on an underage girl
who was the daughter of another guest. That's when Trump to Epstein to screw.
@earl-of-trumps saidWhat's aggravating is how conservatives jump on the flimsiest, most ridiculous excuses to attack the opposition, but ignore clear-as-day facts pointing to the guilt of Republicans.
There are clear connections, no doubt. No smoking gun yet.
Conservatives, without evidence, accuse Obama of being a Kenyan-born Muslim who faked his birth certificate; Fox News accuses Col. Vindman of being a "Ukranian spy" even though he hasn't lived in the Ukraine since he was 3 years old. Conservatives believe in Pizzagate, for god's sake. They believe Tom Hanks is eating children to gain immortality...WTF.
Yet here we have Trump who not only partied with Epstein, not only was accused with Epstein of raping a 13 year old, not only hired someone who drastically reduced Epstein's prison sentence, not only slashed funds to fight child sex trafficking by EIGHTY goddamn percent....but also impeded the investigation into Epstein by firing the lead investigator.
But conservatives can't connect any dots here. Suddenly, not even the craziest conservative conspiracy-nut can find any links between Trump being involved Epstein's sex trafficking. Conservatives believe Alex Jones when he claims frogs are being turned gay; but Trump blocks an investigation into someone he's been accused of raping a child with...nothing to see here, right?
@vivify

Viv, trust me, I've been watching this a lot more closely than the average in here.
But to say Trump partied with Epstein and stretch it into - Trump was
involved with Epstein's sex trafficking is really a bit of a stretch. Too much so.
All I can say is, we'll see going forward.
@earl-of-trumps saidOnly if you ignore the part where they were both named in the rape of a 13 yr old and an investigation found that Epstein recruited underaged girls on Trump's property.

And Trump's constant attempts to impede investigation into Epstein.

There is no known venture by Trump on Epstein's plane, or visit at Epstein Island.
So what can I tell you?
We'll see in time.
@earl-of-trumps saidEpstein usually came to Trump at Mar-a-Lago.
Vivify,
There is no known venture by Trump on Epstein's plane, or visit at Epstein Island.

We'll see in time.
This is well-known.
@earl-of-trumps saidThis is another frustrating thing about Trump's presidency. He actively blocks investigation into his wrongdoing, then when not enough wrongdoing is found because he's actively blocking the investigation, Trump claims victory and all his supporters are happy.
Vivify,

Trump is actively impeding investigation into Epstein. Saying "we'll see in time" seems like a cop out from Trump supporters who hope Trump's obstruction will prevent a smoking gun. He did the same thing by firing Comey over the Russia investigation, Trump repeated obstruction with Berman and the Epstein investigation.
