I deactivated my twitter account and I am now on GAB.
I encourage you all to do the same. A mass exodus away from twitter is what needs to happen.

Try GAB. Punish twitter by leaving forever!
Oh I hope your not teasing us. A mass exodus of fascists from Twitter would be a fantastic result. Again don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out πŸ‘

You live in a country where even the postman has a gun in their sock drawer. Trump riles up his supporters, tells them to be strong and sends them off to the Capitol building. Of course he incited violence. Every drop of blood is on his hands.

Or did I miss the part where he said 'march to the Capitol Building but do it peacefully'?
Being strong means be violent?
Is that the best you have got?

Antifa started the violence.

Yes Corps should be subject to regulation in regard to employment law and health and safety regulations to give but two examples, another one would be their environmental impact, the case of ‘Flint’ being an obvious example.
But people demanding that social media companies give them access to their platforms is another order of encroachment. People may demand that a company ...[text shortened]... cy I’d find another platform. But please label the content clearly there are children playing there.
A maze indeed, I really don't understand what Twitter is , have only seen it screened on the news when somebody says a few sentences (144 characters?) that everyone else is supposed to be interested in. I dont know enoughtocomment, just more of changing landscape confusing the citizenry. And me. When I was young, we had Cronkite and Huntley-Brinkley report for THIRTY minutes, and that was it.

Yes newspapers, and I did indeed sell christmas cards and newspapers, door to door, and the $ def was saved in a piggy bank!. It became Tesla stock! 😳 😳
Edit: JMMM is after me over on another thread that I am actually poor, and go on just too much about investments or whatever. Prob comes across that way, point taken, but at a time or two I couldn't help but saying the market could make us some money, and just opened my mouth. Roku, etc. Sorry. Maybe y'all just pretend I am the monied guy on Gilligan's Island, all in fun, he was put in the cast to help mix it all up, to be different like I definitely am from most libs here. Mott the Hoopie may have been our Gilligan, whatever happened to Mott? And can you get back to the Stock Market thread? Some unanswered questions!!!!!

To Kev: I just heard a phrase "Online Speech' on the news, maybe a new Moniker for the future, for the new age upon which we embark. The feature also mentioned that there are a lot of despots, Khomeni, et al, who are NOT banned from Twitter. Again, curious indeed. Didn't he announce Death to America?

"Minds" is a good alternative social media website. It is much like facebook. No censorship.

Bitchute is a good alternative to youtube. I like it a lot. No censorship unless it violates the law.

Jonathan Pie’s piece on twitter banning trump is beautiful:

To sum it up:
- twitter wants to make out they’re doing the right thing. After profitting for years from trump’s right-wing BS, mental disorder and conspiracy madness.

- this legitimizes trump supporters in their argument that their voices are being blocked.

- it helps trump supporters play the victim card.

- it will motivate trump supporters to seek alternative means of communication, forcing them ever more into their own bubble of information.

I’m not sure twitter had much choice, but the points are valid.

@Metal-Brain
You PIG. TRUMP started the whole thing. The dudes that got arrested all said they were following the orders of Trump.

There is NOTHING you can puke out that will change that.

You have nothing but OPINION.

The facts are clear. Trump started an insurrection PURE AND SIMPLE.

And if you hadn't noticed, the count of people in his cabinet and others have already started resigning.

Not a good sign for your god king.

Sorry I called you a pig. That denigrates PIGS.

I'm quite sure you can find some ultrarightwingnut site that will provide "proof'' it was Antifa or the girl scouts but those sites have one thing in common: They LIE.

Sonhouse implies above that he does not think opinions are appropriate in the forum.

Probably loads of times joe but do you think he presents an actual threat to America, and I’m not sure he uses Twitter to issue his fantasy fatwa’s. Twitter aren't so concerned about external fist waving between belligerent nations they are more concerned about Twitter being used to ferment politically motivated internal unrest and violence. Their have been cases around the globe where social platforms have been used to ferment and strategically assist in inter communal violence. Which arguably was exactly what Trump was doing on the sixth.

I feel you are a bit selective here, a bit of parsing. So you have Korean Jung saying "we will bring America to its knees'. Now, I know he does not use Twitter, but IF he did, .....tell me true, as my grandaughter says, .... would Twitter ban him from their plaform?
Or, are you gonna come back with,,,"well, ,;we dont really know if Jung is going to act, or what his reasons are, if there is something underlying....blahh blah." Kev....Ban Trump, but dpn't ban Korea??
Dont ket me wrong, I will forever say let them all be on Twitter, I personally think (Sonhouse does NOT like opinions I just found out) that we should hear Everything these despots have to say, so that we can read between the lines, cypher, whatever, keep up with them.
My 2 cents. Sorry, Sonhouse

Here you go again sliding off into fantasy scenarios to try and eke out a stance.
I just explained why Twitter would probably not act on a statement from one state about another just as they didn’t censor trump when he threatened to press his much bigger button and wipe out millions of North Koreans and probably a lot of South Koreans along with some Chinese due to geographical proximity.
If you can find a comparative example to what Trump did to get banned from Twitter we could discuss it, but first you will need to google comparative and resist the urge to blah blah blah your way through a debate.

It was opinions and lies by Trump that led to the insurrection and you condone it.
Trump yelled fire in a crowded theater and that is the long and short of it.

You have to be STRONG, you cannot be weak or we will lose the country.

I will be with you going to the capitol, which was a bald face lie, just one of tens of THOUSANDS of such lies.
But of course to a Trump sycophant insurrectionist scumbag traitor to democracy like you Trump never told a lie in his entire life.

I believe twitter and face book thought they end up having suits against them for allowing the posts Trump were putting on them. In my opinion they should have banned him years ago.

They are both owned privately I believe as is the other one he got booted from. So I don't believe they can go 1rst Amendment on that one as a defense argument.

As far as I am concerned Jan 20, 2021 can't come fast enough.
