Ridiculous. Don't pay your taxes in any country and see what happens. So far as I know, EVERY country "has this sort of authority".
2) Even if they did have an issue with taxes, is it grounds to shut them down? surely this is a heavy handed tactic!
3) An authoritarian govt. can manufacture evidence at their leisure.
My friend, I am very much left of center. Moreover, I hate McDonald's. But how can you think that the Venezuelan govt. is acting fairly honestly here???

I ignore people's claims that a country is "authoritarian" when they present zero evidence to support such a characterization. Imputing some sinister motive to the Venezuelan government for what seems like a perfectly routine measure to enforce its tax laws (and which is used against other businesses there all the time) is absurd.

Please present SOME evidence that this is anything but a ministerial decision of the Venezuelan tax authorities. The assertions right wingers make regarding Venezuela in this forum are almost always baseless and ill-informed.
Just like you ignore the evidence that these caudillos in South America, are becoming dictators.

You're being asked to provide the evidence.

The evidence is in other threads like ''ecuador's socialist constitution''
You my friend are an imperialist and should be lined up against the wall and shot.
Or at least your eyes removed so you can't fight and your balls cut off so you can't procreate.
The world is a far better place without the likes of you in it.

from a moron who's in favour of authoritarian regimes.
I've heard enough of your communist fairy tale, you should be sent to Guantanamo bay

When a complany nationalizes sectors of economy, I consider that authoritarian.
Originally posted by MrHandSo did they. This wasn't the first time they had problems with the tax authorities. So they were shut down for two days; a bar in Albany that had been in existence for 150 years was recently shut down PERMANENTLY because they served minors. Bottom line; if you don't obey the rules, sanctions are imposed.

As to your second paragraph, your statement is irrational and I think you know it. Do you consider the UK "authoritarian" because it runs the BBC?
