When we give out billions to farmers, it's called "being fair" π
When we give out billions to banks, it's called "good for the economy" π
When we give out billions in grants, subsidies, and other corporate welfare goodies, to the fortune 500 it's called "Good for America" π
When we give out $$ to the poor, the sick, and underprivileged, it's called "Socialism" π
@mchill saidYou can call it all you want, but I call it corruption. All redistribution of wealth is corruption.

@mchill saidA great issue, but we must all agree that different (algorithms??) facts are shoved into the computer of life when these issues are debated.

The business of farmers and the business of banks are entirely different. My opinion, we cannot compare apples, oranges, banana and plums.
And of course, we cannot compare them with the plight of the poor ( I mean the 40 million poor, not all the rest who are unpoor.....the losers., the wastrels).

[Mark 10:21 NKJV] 21 Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me."
[Deuteronomy 15:9 NKJV] 9 "Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, 'The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,' and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing, and he cry out to the LORD against you, and it become sin among you."
@kingdavid403 said"""Sell whatever you have and give to the poor'''' I am not one to discuss the mystery of religion, which is a mystery, but you give me a simple sentence which I shall interpret literally, as do you.

If a person has some goods, and sells all of what he has. whatever he has, ...the goods....he will have nothing.
Tell us if you interpret this the same way? Then we can discuss whatever happens next. What happens (to the guy who sold his goods)?
This may be a trick question.
@averagejoe1 saidIn the first two scriptures, Jesus was talking to a rich young ruler who wanted to follow Jesus. When Jesus told him to sell all that he had and give it to the poor, the young rich ruler could not do it and he walked away sad. This is when Jesus said to the others that were there, that it was easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than it was for a rich man to enter into heaven.

You told us before that you were a catholic boy.

Yes.
What happens (to the guy who sold his goods)?
He will have eternal life in Heaven with Jesus; he also will have Jesus as his Lord on this earth until then. However, the rich young ruler failed.

@kingdavid403 saidSo you believe that the government taking what you have to give ed to others is the same thing as you choosing to do so.

Jesus taught that for those who have, more will be given and those who have little will have what little they have taken away.

As I told you before with this scripture, Jesus was not talking about wealth or possessions in this scripture. Maybe read your Bible and find out what Jesus was talking about here; if you can.
@kingdavid403 saidJesus also said the poor you will always have around you.

Evidently Jesus was ignorant of the fact that governments can make it so that nobody is poor.

@kingdavid403 saidCatholic indeed, to this day, and I dont' worry much about slime priests, who slip through. Just so we're on the same page,... the religion, except for a few pope rulings, is the same. Cool with that.

Sorry to be the 100% conservative, but I am asking that you reply to that one sentence. You answered like a liberal would. Please, ,,,,realistically. He is 25 years old, probably another 25 years of life ahead, and he has nothing. The scripture does not close, because it seems to leave him a poor man, alms, the works. If you answer with more scripture, this thread will erode away.
So it is cool with you that he is asked to give away all that he has worked for and start from scratch. On this earth. Breathing air. Heaven is many years off. Is that what you are saying?
I am not being snarky, I promise, but you throw that out there as if we totally accept that that is logical common sense ...that it is rational. He may have a family,,,,,he just gives away everything. ?????.
@bunnyknight saidYou do not close your remarks. You are correct that wealth is redistributed. I spend $100 at the Hardware Store, the owner goes across the street and buys $100 worth of bread. He marks the bread up and sells it for $150 at the country fair. And so it goes. We all get that.
We have 100 households who have over a million times more wealth than 50 million other working households. The only way this could have happened is through redistribution of wealth ... or more precisely, unfair redistribution of wealth.
But what YOU and Bernie and Karl Marx are about is that the government TAKES THE WEALTH, THE MONEY, OF THE RICH AND GIVES IT TO OTHER PEOPLE!!
Help me RHONDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is everyone one so oblivious,, so naive??
