In regard to the Gallipoli campaign even a casual glance would tell anyone that Britain was not fighting on their own, specifically with respect to the ANZAC forces.
Turkey was not fighting alone either in case you need to have that clarified for you duchess.
The whole crux of the First World War from an historical perspective was the lesson that two large opposing alliances can end up at war over something as trivial as a single assassination. Resulting in the deaths of millions of service personnel and civilians from all over the world.
