Right. The dictionary definition doesn't use the word innate, so that proves your point that intelligence isn't innate.
You're really using your capacity to apply knowledge there.
I would concede that the potential for intelligence is inate and determined by genetics and other such factors,but intelligence ain't...in my humble non-racist, ex-apartheid-benefiting WHITE South African opinion

You say 'potential for intelligence' is innate, I say intelligence is innate.
Assuming you agree that Africans have the same 'potential for intelligence' (to use your term) as the rest of the planet, then its really a trivial difference.

Maybe I'm just being pedantic, but ignorance is litlle to do with intelligence.
Its to do wth education.
People in Africa are no less intelligent than the rest of us.
They may be, on the whole, less educated and therefore more ignorant, but that's not the same thing.
And I agree about Africans being allowed to solve their own problems.
This was my reply to a poster immediately before you, so I wanted your take this theory: intelligence can be affected by diet, or lack of a proper one, therefore leading to ignorance....

So, do you disagree with me? All africans aren't helpless, ignorant, dumb, disease ridden victims of war and famine you know?
I agree completely with you, BTW, that poor diet can affect your learning abilities, and behaviours. But I honestly think that the argument you are making would be better applied to countries that have been shown to have really crappy diets, and where things like obesity and ADHD (often caused by food additives) are rife.
