does anyone else have the garunteed freedoms we do?
does anyone else have the superb economy we do?
(yes, i know that sometimes our economy has its ups and downs, and here are countries like ...[text shortened]... Congressmen)
so yes, despite our flaws, i think that America IS the greatest country on earth
Yes, other places do have guarenteed freedoms! This is the 21st century, not the 18th. We are not the only country with freedom.

See above for a rebuttle about the economy/military

Sure, it must happen, but I'm talking about overall. On average, I seriously doubt that the number of enlistees with four-year degrees is reflective of the population at large.

I would appreciate that you not spread such lies.
Well in the thread on climate change (www.playtheimmortalgame.com/board/showthread.php?threadid=62155&page=6) you said: "I have been in operational meteorology since 1978"

In the post in this thread to which I was replying you said: "I wonder why I don't have cancer? Or the car driver? Or anyone on the other teams that use depleted uranium?"

So, who's a liar?

The first one was a quote or an article from somebody that is a meteorologist. Check the thread.

About the depleted uranium, I was talking about myself, my driver and the couple of other teams that use it. Those teams are race teams. As in race cars. Vroom. That post was a response to Shav, who already knows I was talking about a race car. I mentioned that in another thread.

You might not be a liar, maybe you just didn't pay much attention.

i truly respect that...
what I meant was, if america completely withdraws, the terrorists will see us as weak...
it's just their way of thinking...
with their religion, they won't see us as peacefully leaving, they will see it as "the infidels being weak, we should attack!"
the islamic religion calls for such irrational thinking...
then you get another 9-11-01
sorry for the misunderstanding. thank you for your thoughts and prayers as well. however, i have found through my experiences that the muslim nation as a whole is a very peaceful one. i was in jordan for a little bit last year and met some very good people that i would be glad to call friends. that being said, the thoughts of a few can sometimes be mistaken for the thoughts of a whole. the reason we are so often sought out after in attacks is our undying support for the israelis(sp?)

Well, in the climate thread the stuff you wrote didn't read like a quote, you really have to flag this type of thing if you don't want people to get the wrong end of the stick. In this thread, you can't expect me to work out that you were talking about racing cars (not a use for DU that I'd have guessed, what the hell do you use it for anyway? Taking out other cars?), it really did sound like you were talking about your time in the military. Actually, I was expecting you to say you were a reservist, which is a way what you seemed to be saying could be consistent. Anyway, I apologise.

sorry it took me so long to get back to you. i was "indisposed" at the moment hehe. that is a pretty pointed question but a fair one as well i suppose. my answer is no. if we are gonig to stay over there, then it should be no other reason then to help put into place a defense force CAPABLE of handling themselves against agressors from within their own borders. although alot of the "insurgents" over there are not from iraq in the first place.

true,
it is a well known fact that the bastards behind 9-11 were extremists...
how do we deal with those few?
i have a limited understanding of the Q'uran, but i am pretty sure that it strictly prohibits murder...
how then can these extremists induce that killing people outside of their religion is good?
is it not ironic that these extremists kill to defend the Q'uran which prohibits killing?

You're spelling of Israel is correct. I would agree on our support for them being the major reason why so many Muslims hate is, I just don't see how we can abandon them so we are kind of stuck with that.

I don't know many people from the ME -6 to be exact- but I do a lot of business with a lot of Somalian immigrants, all Muslim and all great guys. Out of perhaps 40 of them I do business with, I have only found one bad egg, which is as good or better as a percentage than the Americans I do business with.

where are they coming from?
is Iraq just becoming a zone for maniacs to come to from all over the world and blow themselves up with some americans?
how can they hate us so much?
is it that we stand for freedom?
is it that america is predominately Christian?
doesn't the Q'uran teach acceptance of Christianity because we supposedly worship the same god of Abraham?

The Koran is very much their bible, but unlike the bible, the Koran does not have a lot of rules for how a Muslim should live so they (fundamentalists) generally go by the Hadiths. That's basically the story of Mohammeds' life and he is the example of how they should live. Mohammed taught and lived some pretty nasty stuff.
