clogging behavior
Any action that contributes to congestion is clogging behavior
some examples that I see daily:
1. driving beside another car so that those behind cannot pass either
2. leaving a car length or more between vehicles at a stop light, often barring access to the turn lane
3. cops driving under the speed limit, and everyone is too paronoid to pass the donut muncher
One of my pet hates has to be when drivers(usually women,no I'm not sexist, just observant) are waiting to turn right(on english roads) but may have to wait for oncoming traffic to pass, so instead of pulling into the centre of a road that is wide enough for THREE cars, they just stop in the left hand lane, stopping all traffic behind them, so if any drivers are guilty of this, please be considerate enough to change your F****N drving habits, I have many more but this the main one. THINK! be considerate to other drivers, it keeps the road rage away!
What happened to me the other day was one woman driving literally just a couple feet behind my car on the motorway while doing around 70 mph. We were in the outside lane (in the UK, so drive on the left) and there were too many cars to the left of me to pull in to let her past.
My only option was to accelerate to find a gap but she also accelerated closing the gap between me and her. I was doing around 90 mph by the time I found a gap for me to pull in with her just a few feet behind me. If I had to break in an emergency, it would have been rather messy. After I had pulled aside, some other unfortunate soul in front of her had to endure the same treatment.
That is one thing that really p*sses me off. Someone not leaving a reasonable gap behind the car in front of them.

get out of their way so they can tailgate the car in front of me.
That way I get to preserve my own gap to the next car.

I believe it is called tailgating here as well. Just couldn't think of the word. 🙂
Took the kid 15 miles north of town to visit his friend; the trip gave me the chance to hang with some folks I respect in a bistro. On the way back, a tanker truck was struggling along behind a minivan that was slower than the flow of traffic. I was behind another vehicle that took 3/4 mile to pass the two of them at ~65 mph. This extended pass is an example of the clogging behavior I mentioned.
By the time the vehicle in front of me had completed its pass, the vehicles behind all of us had caught up, effectively eliminating the window of opportunity the tanker might have had to pass the lagger.
When passing, complete the pass promptly, or expect an unmentionable orifice like me to ride you like an employee in a cheap brothel.

There is this nifty pedal called the brake pedal....
Next time someone tailgates you hit it hard.
It is the repsonsiblility of the driver to make sure there is enough stopping space between his car and the car in front.
If you speed up you just tailgated at a higher rate of speed and is more dangerous then causing the speeder to slow down.
God bless my car insurance~!

I absolutely can't stand it when busy highways slow to a crawl due to drivers nearly coming to a complete stop to stare at emergency vehicles at the side of the road and to see what has happened. I'm not sure if the drivers are hoping to catch a glimpse of a dead body or what but it's extremely annoying. And usually it's a minor accident that causes all the hub-bub.
