...and they stand in the City where I live and preach from 'the good book' - spreading the word of God.
I am sure the same goes on in many cities.
The odd thing is that although they are shouting, they fail to project very well and so the message gets lost in the sound of traffic, ordinary street conversation from passers by etc.
They also..... deliver their lines..... in a broken... way.... that makes it..... even more..... difficult.... to listen..... to.
Is there a point to what these guys are doing, or is it just a waste of time and energy?
EDit - and its *always* guys, never ladies - is there a reason for this?

You're not sure ? Maybe you can elaborate on that statement ?
I would like to listen to both sides of any debate on the subject as presented by others, then I will reach a decision.
Once I have reached a decision I may choose to either 1) Join them as it is an activity worth taking part in or 2) Go and tell them that I think they are wasting their time on what is a pointless excercise.
Do you have a view either way on this debate? If so please post your thoughts - they are as valued as anyone elses. Otherwise please stop wasting my time.

In the case you want to join them it will be necessary to be a Christian ? Are you ?

Reading what you've written so far in this thread I strongly advise you not to join them. It would be a waste of your time.
Sweet dreams.
Please answer the following also:
Would you preach on the street if you couldn't be heard? If so, why? If not, why not?
Do you feel that these groups would benefit from someone joining them who could offer advice on projection and diction, regardless of that persons own religious views?
Would the introduction of females into these groups of 'street preachers' enhance their profile?
Ta.

You've got my advice. You'd better go to a pub or bar and get pissed.

I think this is the first time we have corresponded at length on the site. I'd like to say it was a pleasure, but I can't.
I would also like to say I look forward to our next encounter on the forums, however I don't.
With your asinine questions and lack of willingness to actually debate the subject in hand, you have contributed very little to this thread.
I have genuinely thought about making an approach to offer advice to the group I see in the city. They could reach a wider audience with just a little tuition on projection and diction alone.
Currently I cringe whenever I see them engaged in an activity which from where I watch I perceive to be a waste of time/energy, as little is apparently being achieved.
Who knows, but by understanding better why they do what I describe in my original post I may see the value in what is being done. This then may become something I wish to be involved in.
There is an opportunity through this thread for someone to take on the case for this group/their activity. I see no such debate being put forward as yet.
Discuss if you wish.
