Mouse control aiming will always win over joypad controls, and when the revolution comes, consoles will be seen for the bubblegum eating loose moralled younger sister of the PC gamer.
Consider the xbox to be the "Meet the Fockers" to the PC's "Zoolander".

I plan to be building my new gamer PC soon, and saw this graphics card....

Would you say it's
A. Made of win
B. Made of crap
or C. mediocre at best ?
And where would you put it in a fight with

Thanks in advance...Huck
Or was it some other number? The 285/295? I think those are model numbers but not sure.
Let's see what the actual experts say...haven't read your thread yet.
This is my rig: http://www.slashgear.com/gallery/data_files/7/4/Alienware_NVIDIA_GeForce_GLX_280_GPU.PNG notice the 2 GTX 280s running in SLI mode.
If you want serious gaming go with the 285, just make sure you've got the rest of the system to back it up and if you're really serious, go dual 285s.
Whether DX11 is worth it yet is debatable, there won't be many games that will make use of it for a while yet and most people won't be moving to windows 7 too quickly anyway.

Two GT8800's
The dx11 cards will last you longer for when dx11 games actually do come out, unless you plan on upgrading every year. Also, the Larrabee will hopefully change graphics card prices dramatically. (although I wouldn't buy one as soon as they come out as first releases are always dodgy)
Your current setup is fine for now, it's not really worth the upgrade when we're on the verge of another technological jump.

I don't want to buy another mobo, unless i upgrade to a better processor (got a Q6600 atm).

I'd be looking to solve those issues before I went anywhere near dropping a new videocard into my rig...

The idea is to buy a new rig, complete with i7, and suitable accompaniments.

Have to say more cores for gaming doesn't really add up to improved performance; better fewer cores and higher clock speed. The developers will always be positioning games to appeal to the masses, which means lowest common denominator. I tend to like the best single videocard I can afford rather than two-card set-ups. More to go wrong, I guess, and unless you're pushing a very large monitor, more GPU than you'll actually use doesn't really help. It's like the extra cores in a quad. Nice for bragging rights, but little else.
Love to see it when you finally get it pulled together. Be sure and post pic links on RHP.
Originally posted by sbacatI will. I've bought 4gb ram in two sticks to tide me over, and i'm hoping my techie friend will get my old rig back up and running. I'm using my backup PC atm, and i cant even play Psychonauts, or halflife 2 without drag....pain in the hole.
