i find quite a few people on here quite unfriendly.
And you never offered a word of thanks.
What defines unfriendliness?

.... and Jie together whining! ........

i stumbled on an interesting article about abuse on rhp! here it is:
http://www.complaints.com/2008/may/26/_Abuse_by_www.redhotpawn.com_171904.htm
i just recently signed up for an account on rhp. in many ways i like the site but in other ways i find some flaws. like how its immpossible to stop cheaters or at how many people will attack your posts. i ...[text shortened]... ere quite unfriendly.
but what do you guys think? do you agree or disagree with the article?
I think the problem is that our common interest is essentially a combative one. The majority of members are young men and things can get heated. But for every aggressive person there are two perfectly nice ones.
I remember what the general forum was like when I first joined. Really quite scary. Things are quieter now we have more private forums. My advice would be to look at which Clans and clubs the people you like belong to, and join them.
For all their faults, we are lucky to have such active forums. If you don't like something, don't read it. For this reason I never visit debates or spirituality. But you can't have such a lively place without offending some people.
The forums remind me of that scene in Life of Brian where Palin is trying discover "how many have come through?". All he can get out of Gilliam is that they "have lumps of it around the back". As soon as he leaves Gilliam and Idle turn to each other and it turns out they're perfectly normal! Basically, even some of the real wackos here are actually really nice if you catch them when their testosterone's been freshly drained.

Unfortunately we have some members who feel the forums need to happiness and rainbows all the time.
This is impossible, and it leads to a stifled forum. The same goes for forums where swearing and REAL abuse is allowed - they just don't last, as members just don't have good shelf life there.
I believe our forums have a great balance.
Like Palynka said, you might catch some flak if you post something stupid, but that's how it should be. Within reason obviously.
I have enjoyed these forums immensely, as there is some really smart and funny people having some great discussions and debates. They have been some of the best I've frequented over the years.

I have been aware of that site for sometime, but resisted posting to it, despite what I see as slightly original interpretations of the truth being posted. It is rather frustrating, that one person on a hate campaign can post freely on sites like that and potentially damage the site.
Our RHP wikipedia even got removed after, ahem, someone repeatedly edited the entry. (Feel free folks to recreate that, if you have the time... ! )
BTW : "It's unbelievable that the owners have not been outed as the Satanists that they are, using the site to 'convert' as many people as they can!" Whoever posted that, thanks, it gave me a good chuckle.

As for RHP vs GK there is no question for me. GK is as soul-less as it's color scheme. The general forums are populated by thought Nazi's. The strict restrictions on play are legendary so bring a big wallet to GK π The higher rateds as a rule to be rude in private messages. The Webmaster is abusive of his power and if you have a suggestion or a complaint don't expect a real answer π Russ is a dream boat compared, especially after several pints of Old Speckled Hen π)- I know of several who were removed here or didn't wait and quickly fled to GK. As for the forums here it is a matter of; if you can't stand the heat......
