How long do you think it would take to graduate from the Univ. and go out and find a Philosophy teaching job at a Univ? Who pays Philosophers to do their own research?
Boss, you need tough love, not a pat on the heiny, but by all means make sure you work at what you love. That's what i did.
GRANNY.
Psychiatry, not special ed., not philosophy.
I do appreciate the title of "Boss" though, I want to change my username now.

Hell, I'd sign up for that one myself. 😛
Originally posted by cmsMasterI know you're not going into special ed; you said so. But if you want Granny to think that all of special ed is like her babysitting scenario then that's fine with me. Stop this debate.
I am NOT going into special ed., I don't want to and I never did. My interest has ALWAYS been in psychiatry.
You can continue that debate for your own personal reasons and beliefs, but it won't go anywhere good and neither of you will change your stance, so keep me out of it. Danke.

Or I could take it a step further still, "The Philosophy of Special Education Philosophy."

Boss. To become a Psychiatrist you must first become a Medical Doctor. To do this you you enter the Pre Med cirriculum and usually major in Biology and Chemistry. Since you want to be a Psychiatrist you would select courses in Psychology as electives. When you enter Med School you go through rotations in different specialities. During this time you will get an idea which speciality you like the most. I believe in you internship year you pic your speciality. You then graduate from med school and are a Doctor, but you must first spend 2 years as a Resident in a hospital learning your specialty, Psychiatry, before you can practice Medicine (Psychiatry). You must also take and pass a State exam. I believe this is basically correct. Good Luck.
