I can tell you about that one, having adopted 3 kids:

The kids come from broken homes, crack moms, etc.

In our case 2 of the kids are identical twins, mom was crack and just about every other addiction, hated the dad of the twins, loved the dad of another baby.

She is also a prostitute, so hating the twins dad, she threw them against the wall a lot, when we got them they were in total body casts, age 4 months. 14 broken bones between them. Needless to say she lost all her kids. Her response: I can make more.

So the adoption process is like getting married, you have a legal ceremony, sign documents that the child is now considered yours and you will take care of it just like it was a biological child.

In Muslim countries it is not that easy. Mohammed wrote (He actually had an adopted son) later that adoption is basically not fair to the biologicals so declared it to be maybe not forbidden but made it clear the adopted one does not have inheritance rights. The bottom line there is Muslims don't adopt.

We lived in Israel for 4 years, our adopted twins and one biological son went with us, the twins were 6 when we got there, our biological son 14. Kevin, our bio son graduated from the Anglican International school with a HS diploma, the twins went there for 3 years.

So we had friends on both sides of the fence and had visited orphanages in Gaza and the West bank and saw the conditions there for Muslim orphans. They NEVER get adopted or very rarely.

The sad part there is they live in the orphanage till they are 18 and then just sent on their merry way, no family, not much in the way of education, no jobs, nothing, out with the clothes on their backs.

In fact, at the christian schools and churches in Bethlehem, if a baby shows up on the doorstep, and a nun happens by, they put a necklace with a cross on it so when the Muslim authorities show up, when they see the cross, they go right on by, no attempt to take the child because of Sharia law so the infant, formerly Muslim or not, gets taken in by the nuns and they will be adopted.

Sad but true.

Greetings, Mr. Lee. Of all the interesting / entertaining member profile photos on

this site, yours (in my opinion) still remains in the top three of the 'most curious'.

The biological mom, yes. She went to jail for two years for the abuse against the twins. She kept her word about making more kids too, had one while incarcerated.

If the same abuses happened to say, a 11 yo who could identify the abuser, the jail term could have been ten times longer but since a 4 month old infant cannot speak to identify the assailant the term was only two years. She got out of jail on parole but couldn't even keep to the parole rules and was lured to a courtroom under the pretense she was going to lose the kids permanently if she did not show up at the hearing so she fell for it and as soon as she showed up in court they cuffed her and she had to serve out the remaining sentence plus a couple of months. Still a light sentence for such a terrible abuse against defenseless infants.

That is enough to justify adoption... where the bmom simply does not or cannot love her kids due to mental reasons and/or drugs. Otherwise adoption shouldn't be considered IMO

A very very sad account of the youngest of lives, thank you for sharing but more importantly thanks must be given to folk like yourselves that foster and \ or adopt children that will inevitably need far more heart rendering 'assistance' than the norm. It saddens me also that there are even the minimal number of parents that have lost all manner of care and decency due to drug or alcohol addiction, society needs to have a long look at itself and deal with root causes in cases whereby alarm bells were ringing long before children came into their lives. One aspect of life is the absolute certainty that further life will be created, is it not important to realise even the most troubled individuals will produce offspring of their own one day..sitting back and waiting a few months beyond birth is almost shameful BUT what can be done..what alarm bells have to be rung before society can step in and say 'enough is enough'..do we literally have to wait for the very worst before taking command, sadly that has to be the case as it infringes the supposed human rights of the potential abuser. Education is paramount, nothing will ever be improved for these future children if these taboos are not at least addressed first hand. But how...
