@Torunn saidDidn’t he supply the funding for the film in addition to directing it? I’m guessing that the blame lies with him, not just because he was holding the gun but that he was ultimately responsible for everyone they hired and health & safety. Did anyone ever bother to check what exactly the gun was loaded with before it was even taken onto the set? Was he nonchalantly handling / fiddling around with the gun just before it fired? It obviously demanded more respect as a killing device. It wasn’t just a prop!
Can anybody explain to me the situation with Alec Baldwin:
"A grand jury in New Mexico has charged Alec Baldwin with a fresh count of involuntary manslaughter over a fatal movie set shooting in October 2021."
To me he is innocent of this crime.
There are lessons to be learned.
@Torunn saidHe pointed a loaded gun at someone who wasn’t even a cast member and pulled the trigger, they died.

Why did he do that one wonders.
@divegeester saidYes, one might wonder but he must have been absolutely convinced there wasn't a bullet. If this is an accident, what good will 18 months in prison do?

@divegeester saidJustice would have been done if they had jailed the person responsible for this death. The Assistant Director, David Halls. He handed Baldwin the gun and refused another safety check, necessary since the armorer was not the last to have possession of the weapon. He was behind on filming and wanted the scene finished that day.
It might make the deceased’s family feel like justice has been done.
Instead, he got a deferred sentence of six months unsupervised probation. Pretty light for rushing the set ignoring safety concerns.
Baldwin is in the fix he's in because he has repeatedly said he didn't pull the trigger, which is obviously false.

@Suzianne saidSo that was in conjunction with a plea deal. Would that involve the victims family being offered a large compensation payout?

Just read the rest. It sounds ridiculously lenient to me.
‘In addition to six months unsupervised probation, the terms of the sentence include that Halls pay a $500 fine, perform 24 hours of community service, take a fire safety course within 60 days, testify in all hearings involving the shooting and have no contact with co-defendants or witnesses.’
@Suzianne saidFrom when I first read the full story I felt there wa more to it than an accident.

- A gun on a movie set somehow loaded with a live round.
- The gun pointed at a female cinematographer, not another actor from the scene, and not even in rehearsals, and then it was fired killing her
The whole thing stinks.
@divegeester saidThe security on the set could have been better. Way too many people had access to the prop cart, for one thing. Baldwin could have been more professional, instead of dicking around on the job to try to be funny.

There can be live rounds on the set, but they are highly controlled and extra precautions are taken when they're around. Also the prop master is the only one to handle live rounds or other explosive materials. I'm guessing someone got careless or wasn't paying attention. Also, someone could have brought in something from outside to cause mayhem. Too many variables. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. I don't think there was actual intent to get someone killed, just too much stuff could go wrong in that environment.
@Suzianne saidDo you still think that Baldwin should be held responsible despite all these possible human errors?

@divegeester
That was the whole point, there is ZERO place for live ammo. Bu Baldwin thought it was a blank, there would be no motive in actually killing her and would have required a conspiracy if the idea was he had a bitch about that woman and wanted her dead, then more than one person would have had to be involved because if that was what happened in reality, and it might even be shown he had something against her but I doubt very much that was the case, he probably didn't even know her.
It seems to be pure accident. And a court case would show that.
Baldwin is not an arms expert and if handed a gun with supposed blanks he would have no reason to believe it was loaded with real ammo.
That said, he should have checked the rounds himself.
Real rounds fill a chamber, the blanks are way shorter and would be obvious even to an untrained person.
@sonhouse saidWhy did he point the gun at her?

That is THE question. Probably joking around, HA HA, I am going KILL you, and he did.
