English needs some fine tuning, to make it more accessable to first time learners. I have many modifications that I believe would make the language easier to speak and spell - meaning better communications for all (and lots of ranting from the grammatical fascists who inhabit most internet sites)

If only the MLA thought the same way...they seem to be pretty content with English (except for the slang and Ebonics)...In a thread about the English Language, I brought this up...

"My personal opinion (not that it matters to any of you) is that English is a terrible language. Yes, it doesn't have noun cases (Thank God) and its verbs are not to hard to conjugate. But those are only the few good things about English. Here are some reasons why English is terrible:

1) Ebonics, slang, etc.
2) New words are constantly being created, some of which don't even make sense.
3) If we don't have a word for something, we either a) make one up or b) "borrow" a word from some other language.
4) The English lexicon is enormous!! According to The Global Language Monitor, we currently have 989,614 words in the English Language. That means we're only 4,884 words away from having 1,000,000 words. HOW MANY DO YOU NEED?
5) Too many homophones and homonyms.
6) Believe it or not, about 4.03% of the words in the English Language have no etymology given. Where did they come from?

Need I say anymore?"

As you can see, I really don't like English...
