To pick up a jug of alcohol,
Well, I went down on 31st Street,
To pick up a jug of alcohol.
Ahhh.........
Told the man to put in some water,
But he wouldn't put in a drop at all.
I was drinking my straight alcy,
And I went walking on down the street,
Well, I was drinking my straight alcy,
And I went walking on down the street.
Yeahhh....
Well, my eyes got so heavy,
I nearly fell half asleep.
Well, I like sherry brandy,
My baby sure like gin,
Well, that little girl I got,
Sure put me in the,
Spin I'm in.
Well, I went down on 31st Street,
To pick up a jug of alcohol.
Yeahhh....
I told the man to put in some water,
But he wouldn't put in a drop at all.
Whisky make me drowsey,
And gin can make you think,
Well, a common cold can kill ya,
But, my baby tell me to drink,
I went down on 31st Street,
To pick up a jug of alcohol,
Yeahhh....
I told the guy to put in some water,
But he wouldn't put in a drop at all,
One hundred per cent alcohol,
Well, let me have some.

Ninety one per cent,
Better make it ninety two,
Ninety three per cent,
Ninety four, that'll do,
Ninety five,
Ninety six,
Ninety seven per cent,
Ninetyeight,
Bartender that's ninety nine,
Make it one hundred per cent,
One hundred per cent,
One hundred per cent,
Wanna try some,
I wanna try some,
One hundred per cent,
Then I won't feel a thing at all.
Bold highlights one of the greatest verses ever composed and performed...

Those were the days, eh? Crap songs and great guitar playing.
Nowadays it's all 'emotions' and 'relationships', and 'sensitivity' and any w@nker with a guitar think he can inflict his whining upon us.
For this is the era of pu$$y rock. Alas and alack.

A brilliant guitarist & one of the most genuine friendliest guys this world has seen,RIP Roryπ
Also speaking of Rory, sorry to throw the thread off, but
anyone ever heard of another Rory, Rory Block.
Just as good if not better guitarist, she made her debut at carnegie
hall at the age of 14! She had an incredible upbringing, her father
was Alan Block, owned Alan Blocks Sandle shop, but it was a
gathering place for a lot of the blues greats like Rev. Gary Davis,
Muddy Waters, Skip James to name a few. They would hang out
and play there and little rory got lessons from the age of about 5
direct from the masters of acoustic blues. She later got lessons
from another blues maven, Stephan Grossman, who lived nearby
and got weekly lessons from Rev Gary Davis. So it was as a duo
with Stephan Grossman at Carnegie hall she had her debut.
She was only supposed to play a nice tune or three but in the middle
of one burst out singing with a lot of passion, the audience went nuts!
Nice debut, eh. Check out one: Last Fair Deal Gone Down.
She is an incredible blues virtuoso.
Originally posted by sonhouseThanks for the tip- but I have to say I find a bird named Rory who plays the blues a little disconcerting...
