If there was a need to kill, I'd kill, but the only reason I'd do so is to protect my home and loved ones from direct threat. 'Defending interests' 'pre-emptive strikes', patriotism and the self reciprocating culture/excuse for warfare as a means of combatting political means are none of those things. Do any of you pro-war guys really think that killing ...[text shortened]... forgettable? Have any of you done it and if so, did you manage to get on with your life?

Memories come rushing up to meet me now.
In the space between the heavens
and in the corner of some foreign field
I had a dream.
I had a dream.
Good-bye Max.
Good-bye Ma.
After the service when you're walking slowly to the car
And the silver in her hair shines in the cold November air
You hear the tolling bell
And touch the silk in your lapel
And as the tear drops rise to meet the comfort of the band
You take her frail hand
And hold on to the dream.
A place to stay
"Oi! A real one ..."
Enough to eat
Somewhere old heroes shuffle safely down the street
Where you can speak out loud
About your doubts and fears
And what's more no-one ever disappears
You never hear their standard issue kicking in your door.
You can relax on both sides of the tracks
And maniacs don't blow holes in bandsmen by remote control
And everyone has recourse to the law
And no-one kills the children anymore.
And no one kills the children anymore.

I don't think brass has anything to do with it either way.
No guts to back What up?

Originally posted by Sam The ShamI have been in a high speed car crash. It was quite a rush. I recommend it to anyone. Pay no attention to the woosies who have never been in one. They clearly have no idea what they are talking about.
Quick clue about the advice you're being given here:
Those who haven't been in the military are the ones saying it's a bad idea, those who have are saying it's a good one. Pay no mind to the woosies. People who have never been in the service have no business giving you advice because they don't know what they're talking about.
Originally posted by Sam The ShamPoint being that you do not have to do it to know the possible consequences. Also people might not choose to join the miltary for any number of reasons (even ones who are fearless). It is anyone's choice, and it is unreasonable for you to say that anyone who doesn't is a dummy. People who still enjoy life with their "crummy jobs".
And the prize for the dumbest analogy ever goes to........
For the record, I have trained in the Air Training Corps, had an interest in joining the RAF at an early age but decided on a different career path.
