And, to use your own argument against you, they don't care that they are creating multiple accounts because they have nothing to lose.
I want to make clear that I have nothing against non-subs,in fact most of them are quiet and play without posting i forums at all,but obviously there are a lot of rotten apples amongst them.
I don't say "ban them from forums forever" because I know that Russ won't do it,as it is counterproductive, but something should be done to avoid the flourisment ...[text shortened]... ruly recced post.
Otherwise take away the recs compleely and the problem is solved to the root.
I'm sure it is a pain for mods to have to constantly remove idiotic threads, but heavy-handed restrictions would merely ruin the forums for those who do play by the rules. It's like cutting off a leg to remove foot fungus.

Dont agree that non subs shouldnt be able to start threads.
There is only a minority of non subs that are knob heads.
I'd have an age limit on it too if it could be enforced somehow.
We non subs also dislike these eejit posters.
Punishing all non-subscribers (the majority of whom do not abuse the forums!) by limiting their forum access simply doesn't work unless you ban them from the forums altogether. If you do that, then what on earth would attract new people here, and make them want to subscribe? The idea doesn't seem to be thought through so well. Perhaps a better solution would be to simply ignore the annoying posts. It works when 3 year olds are involved in attention seeking ativities, and many of the people that are guilty here could easily fit with that crowd.
I think the forum access is great the way it is, but of course I'm likely to think that, not being a sub and all...
I enjoy posting on the forums, although it is annoying when you have to sift through a lot of cr@p to find the worthwhile bits of a discussion (some of it posted by subs too). I'd also like to think just occasionally I can bring something to the forums which benefits someone (occasionally posting something of use on the chess forum (e.g. I try my best to help if a thread about one of my favoured openings come up).
I am sure you will find in various debates or discussions some good points brought up by non-subs, and I am sure some subs enjoy having a debate with the more sensible non-sub posters, which another sub was maybe not interested in deiscussing. Allowing non-subs to post widens the depth of a discussion, although regrettably it also increases the chances of getting trolls posting too. I'm sure I've posted some rubbish on here sometimes...
I will now wait for my view to be blown out of the water by a clever sub who cripples my arguement with a well-spotted spelling error somewhere in my post... 😉

Every system has weaknesses, the more open and great a system, the larger the weaknesses it will have.
But the weaknesses are what make it all worth while.
