I don't say "ban them from forums forever" because I know that Russ won't do it,as it is counterproductive, but something should be done to avoid the flourisment ...[text shortened]... ruly recced post.
Otherwise take away the recs compleely and the problem is solved to the root.

For the record I'd quite happily submit to a ten post limit, (or perhaps a monthly limit would be better). But then I'm just a bit of a post-a-holic these days, and anything to cut down my addiction to these forums would be helpful.
Originally posted by Jay Peateathere are a lot of good non-subs, but its very hard to not remember all the bad ones. its hard not to classify all non-subs into that one ill fated category of "non-sub". I went off on the non-subs before in the site ideas forum with many ideas for limiting their activity. some supported and some rejected, both sides gave great points. i learned a lot about the general feeling of subs towards the non-subs activity. generally, the subs who have been around for longer than any of us support their existence on this site as it is, they helped make it what it is today, and i understand that completely, and i have played and got along well with some non-subs. to me, however, i believe times have changed. but its not up to me and its not up to anyone but Russ. i think he knows how many of us feel about it. and i think more specifically most of the non-sub problem is in the forums. (to me, if you want to spam and ruin the forums, pay to do it) they can play thier 6 games for free for all I care. its a difficult situation to solve, it is a win-lose situation and a lot of good non-subs would get punished, but a lot of the bad ones would be off the forums. its a hard dilema

Kick 'em out for a week or two [or more if necessary] and I don't think anyone, subs or non subs would object.

I think a fair few people, both subs and non-subs, miss the point re the problem of non-subs in the forums.
Normal non-subs can post crap as can normal subs. That's not a problem. The problem, as I see it, is when A holes like CACKHEAD create multiple accounts to attack the forums knowing full well that when 1 non-sub account gets banned, he can easily create another. Or when Blobby comes back as not one but two or more annoying incarnations of his original subscriber self.
What we need to be thinking about as a community is how to stop this type of behaviour. It seems like an impossibility, but there may be a way with a brainstorm.
Making a minimum number of moves as a prerequisite to posting in forums other than help sounds good, but then CACKHEAD and other idio ts with too much time on their hands would still create their multi accounts and blitz a few moves before attacking the forums. This creates an even bigger problem as (probably) non subs are getting hit with a lot of games which aren't going to finish.
As things stand, I think the best way to help the site is to use the alert mod button when someone is obviously attacking the forums. This helps the mods no end, and betters the general content of the site for all of us.
The people who I think should be banned (not really 😉 ) are those who call non-subs tight erses for not ponying up the $30. It shows incredible narrow mindedness that $30 means the same for everyone in this global community.

does an automatic message go to a mod with a link to a specific thread /post/ page???

I think...The forums mods see the post you alerted along with the alert message you've written. They can then decide on whether to mod the post or not. Also, robomod counts how many alerts a post has gotten and automods it if it reaches a certain number; n.

Best idea yet was setting the number of moves first before you can post.
Make it a realistic number [ie.*5OO+] and it would work.

Let's have a shootout. If I win, all subs have to shut up about non-subs, and if you win, all non-subs get banned. It's the only manly way to settle it.
Just post your street address and I'll be on my way.
