it amazes me every time when I see the claim of non-subs behaving categorically worse than subs. look around. the subs who don't post nonsense or derogatory statements are just as far apart as non-subs doing the same. even in this threat there's somebody shooting someone else in the face for 'sh1ts & giggles'.
many don't even seem to realize that saying something like 'non-subs tend to post crap, albeit there are some good ones' is like saying 'black people tend to be dummer than white, albeit there are some smart ones' or 'gypsies tend to be thieves, albeit there are some honest ones'.
there is nothing you can do to refute such a prejudice. if you're a thieving gypsy, you prove the claim right. if you're an honest gypsy, you are 'one of the good ones' and again prove the prejudice right.
and for those who think paying money somehow magically transforms people into well-behaving characters with good integrity. I've got news for you: it does not. furthermore, where do you think all those 'good subs' came from? that's right, all they started as 'good non-subs'. some may even have started as 'bad non-subs', grown a little, and started to contribute into the community. stop throwing bricks in glass houses and focus more on your own behaviour. people grow and learn from good examples.
Originally posted by wormwoodyou need to go back and read some of the previos posts carefully. we all know that both subs and non-subs can post bad stuff in the forums. however, there are a few glaringly obvious differences between the two. you seem like a smart person, think about it

It could be solved very easily by the forum mods being stricter with the spammers.
Kick 'em out for a week or two [or more if necessary] and I don't think anyone, subs or non subs would object.
I agree that mods could try being a little stricter with the spammers, but the mods have lives too, they can't spend all day banning people. I don't think we should do anything to restrict the non-subs. Nordlys had a good point that by pointing out whenever a non sub is an a$$, people get the impression that non-subs cause most of the problems. When I first read this post I was thinking I agreed because all the non-subs I could think of were annoying. In my mind, I kind of imagined that Strangelove, Jay, and even Bowmann, among others, were subs. They just didn't seem like the kind of people who would be these horrible non-subs. I realized that we really should be seperating people into the catergories of valuable memebers of the community and spammers/trolls instead of subs and non-subs.
Plus, what would the grammar and spelling on these forums come to if Bowmann were limited to only 10 corrections per day?
