On a related note; would you rather drown or be burnt to death in 1/4 the amount of time it takes you to drown?
(Use 0 for instantaneous combustion)
(Use 1/1 for the same amount of time for death by combustion as death by drowning.)
Honestly use the maximum ratio for burning you would accept.

Burning? That's a crap way to die. Skin melts, hot gas inhaling melts the airways. Not good.
As for lion versus shark, that is a bad choice, but at least both have the potential to kill quickly.
Worse case scenario has to be hyenas, wolves or wild dogs. Soft bits first, incapacitating their prey is incidental to these guys, as they immobilise through force of numbers rather than a death hold.
Being eaten legs and abdomen first by hyenas has to be my vision of hell on earth.
That and a world without cheese.

And you can hit the shark on the nose to scare it away (so they say). I don't know about this with lions...
Punching something that weights 1000 times more than you on a blood lust is like tackling a rampaging hippo.
If the shark is just curious (80% of shark attacks) a punch will deter it, but if it is hungry and has identified you as a meal then you have to threaten it and they are very protective of their gills especially.
I've swum next to a raggie and a hammerhead and basically, if those awesome animals decide to make you dead, you're dead and you most probably won't even know what hit you.
