The complainers against the granny tasering seem to have forgotten the numerous clips of police being clipped by traffic, as the policeman deals with the difficult "customers". Anyhow the "good granny" received a couple of 50,000 volt jolts and a night in the slammer and went home not the worse for it.
Next time she won't be belligerent again will she? Wh ...[text shortened]... claims she will sue? Sue for what? Her lies? Her belligerence? Defying the deputy 9 times?
EDIT: Apparently the Sheriff of that county isn't as much of a fascist lunatic as you and Sham are:
But Travis County Sheriff Greg Hamilton, whose office does not oversee the constables, issued a statement Wednesday saying:
"I do not personally agree with the actions of the deputy constable as they are shown in the video. When I look at the video I am in awe of what happened," Hamilton said.

The Texas officials agreed with the actions of the deputy.

I agree with this blogger. Its just sensationalism because a 72 y/o granny is involved.

The grandma nonsense is nothing but spin from a woman who, by virtue of the fact that she is 72, should have known better than to behave the way she did. From the outset, she turned the encounter into a battle of big, burly cop against poor, old, defenseless woman, and the press swallowed the bait in the face of video evidence to the contrary.

EDIT: The "Texas official" cited is a Sargeant Major, the cop's direct supervisor. The Sheriff of the County says differently. And no one cares what bloggers "think".

The enlightened redneck is a journalist. His opinion is just as good as that of a sheriff who does not oversee the Texas Police department. The sheriff has obviously not seen clips of cops being clipped by oncoming traffic or dangerous individuals attacking deputies. The sheriff is also blind to the fact that the woman is resisting arrest. The sheriff should stick to eating dunkin doughnuts and drinking coffee all day watching youtube clips.
Originally posted by NordlysThe question is not police being armed or unarmed. The question is the belligerence of a 72 y/o granny who wants to refuse to sign a tcket to appear in court, and also resist arrest and enter her car and go as if nothing happened. In Norway the police would probably have arrested her. If she resisted arrest they would probably use pepper spray or a taser if they carry those.
I am glad to live in a country where the police is predominantly unarmed.
Originally posted by CCNoobI believe that it definitely is part of the question whether the police are armed or unarmed. If they are not armed, they have to solve the situation in a different way. They may also be better trained in handling situations in non-violent ways.

Yeah, right, you and a journalist have more expertise in traffic stop matters than the Sheriff of Travis County. Since the arrest was illegal (once she agreed to sign the ticket, the cop had no cause to arrest her and furthermore he never said "You're under arrest), you may "resist" it if you please. Obviously you and this cop have some anger management issues; perhaps both of you have something against women, too. For you to call this tiny, unarmed woman a "dangerous individual" shows how warped you are. Maybe you and this cop need to do more lifting to get bigger and stronger; maybe it would help with your innate cowardice.

They were both at fault.
The granny broke the law and was trying to weezle out of it and play the "I'm a poor old lady" drama. She knew what she was doing. If she is such an old lady she should not be driving.
The cop was obviously quite agitated and did use excessive force when he could have handled it better. He should get some anger management training.
