Yeah, i guess you're right about that. What should the age cut off date be then? Young people have heart problems also.

Granny wasn't tasered because she wouldn't sign the ticket. The situation had gone beyond that. She refused to follow the officers order to stay where he told her to stay so he could arrest her. This is about her not following Legal police orders. It's against the l ...[text shortened]... he should have been able to kick him in the knee also. I'd like to be able to.

She offered to sign the ticket BEFORE he shoved her. He never said "You're under arrest". It is not against any law I know of to be "belligerent towards a police officer". The only basis of an arrest was her "refusal" to sign the notice and since she offered to sign it, he had no valid reason to arrest her.

And tasering her while she was on the ground should be a bit much even for you and Sam.

That's a good reason NOT to use a taser unless it's absolutely necessary.

Yes, that was my understanding and I am sure that falls in line with the courts and Texas congress wants. Your argument is sound.

I'm not sure that is the actual law we are looking for. (maybe so) I think there could be more as well. Signing a citation is not a release of prior arrest.
Am I reading this wrong #1? Because that is what it sounds like it is implying.
The statute is part of a longer section regarding the issuance of traffic citations. It is referring only to that. Here's the rest if you're interested: http://tlo2.tlc.state.tx.us/statutes/docs/TN/content/pdf/tn.007.00.000543.00.pdf

What would he have done before the taser shot her? It starts to get pretty ridiculous don't you think?

A man that size should be able to handle a little senior lady without having to cuff her or taser. Was he afraid she was going to lay a pounding on him?

I agree with you here. I think Tasers are a weapon of torture. Cruel and unusual punishment.

Have you ever, single handed, tried to put hand cuffs on someone who wouldn't cooperate? She could have easily been hurt. Maybe shrinks should give out traffic tickets instead of the Police. Yeah, dats the ticket !

Perhaps Police need better training, they don't need to be shrinks, just have some common sense.

I don't think the little senior woman needed cuffing to begin with. He handled it very badly in my opinion.

You should contact the Phila. Police Academy and tell them there is no such law. I was told there was such a law.

Have you ever tried to put cuffs on a 72 year old woman? What are you 5'0" 98lbs weakling? Come on. If he had been civil she would have calmed down. All he would have had to do was flash his smile and she would have offered to bake him an apple pie. But no, he wanted to try out his new toy.

Probably wouldn't hurt if the police had more training in that area.

I didn't say the officer couldn't cuff her. I meant that he could have easily injured her if she tried to resist simply because he was so much bigger.
