...i grew up on canned food....we would get one american dollar to spend for dinner ( four kids )...we could always get a large can of fish and macaroni in a box...but we got hash in a can and dinty moore stew too...we used to get
garbanzo beans...what is your best memory of old canned food and what canned food do you buy today ?
For a super treat while visiting, she might blacken a hotdog and slice it into the bowl.
I still put mustard on my O's, on the rare occasion I have them.
P-
...for years i told my children that i was a personal friend of chef-boy-ar-dee
and of course, being the trusting tykes they were, they bought it....but the
meal i never got them to accept was "potlicker bread"...which was in my house what was served for "dessert"...white bread on the plate after dinner
with the juice of the canned peas or carrots or whatever poured over it...so much for appalachian cuisine...
i purchased meat balls in a can ( made in canada...the can was dark blue and orange and i think it was called "fraser"..) anyway...bought it in a 99 cent store....bought 5 cans...tried one taste...would not feed it to my dog...cannot believe it is really sold to humans...anyone in canada or in
the dakotas every see this brand and try it ?
