If you knew you were going to get quite sick for 48 hours - incapacitated - would you rather it be during a weekend or during the work week?

I'd rather it happen on the weekend.

I'd have to agree. I'd rather it happen on the weekend. In fact, sometimes that's nice.

During the working week definitely.

I'd get paid to be off sick AND still have the weekend free to enjoy myself.

Yeah, but if you use sick days, then aren't you paying to be sick?

Weekend. I spent most of Christmas vacation sick but that's a whole lot better than trying to come up with four days' worth of sub plans!

I'm paid a fixed monthly salary, so no. Doesn't matter how many days I have off sick, I still get paid the same amount.

sounds like communism, dont work hard and still get paid the same as people who do work hard, i bet there are people at your work who dont take sick days as often as you do

Quite an arrogant assumption considering you don't know either how hard I work or how often I'm off sick.

depending on your profession.. i guess.. you are a teacher are you not? that is different to missing a normal day for most!

During the week on Thursday & Friday. My boss is pretty liberal about these things. When I had surgery last year I was off for two weeks then worked half days for a week. I didn’t use any sick days or vacation time and still got my regular check. If I need a day off I just tell him and he says OK.

Yeah ... when I had my other jobs, I'd certainly rather be sick on a work day! Now it's more work to be sick than to show up and breathe on the people who got me sick.

Am self employed, sole trader. Sickness=more chess moves; less cash.
Staff parties aren't very interesting, either.:'(
