One of my friends is highly allergic to fish, nuts and strawberries. He's an unlucky guy. I could maybe tolerate not eating one of those (as long as it wasn't strawberries) but no way all three! He also has asthma.

There was a program on in Britain a while ago about allergies - one of the methods currently being tested in the USA to temper the reaction is to grow a certain kind of worm in your stomach. The worms breed and have a dampening effect on the immune system, thus alleviating the allergic symptoms. Best of all, you get live worms in your poo. 🙂

I'm not seeing anything about actually growing the worms inside people but rather stuff about scientists mimicking (sp?) the worms' excreted molecules.

Well, there was a guy on the program who had worms inside him. Maybe they've moved on since then.

Edit: and these worms weren't tiny. And I think I was wrong about the stomach, they were in his intestines.

Well, they got their first taste of fame and then they were off. They're currently starring in a musical about Jacqueline Du Pre.

Well, not earthworms, but they are worms of some sort.

I don't want to give this stuff up, i love shellfish. anyone know about this stu ...[text shortened]... f, should i listen to them and not eat it anymore??! how can i know for sure thats what it is??!
First of all, did you go to a hospital, and did a medical professional tell you that you had an allergy to shellfish? If that is the case, and unless you want to die, my advise to you is to listen to your doctor. The next episode of eating shellfish may very well be your last on this earthly plane. After eating shellfish the next time, you can experience what is called anaphylaxis shock. Your airway will close tighter than a gnat's ass; you will be wheezing for air, but none will enter your lungs. Your heart will start racing because your blood vessels will have dilated, causing a rapid, thready pulse. Your skin will feel cold and clammy (cool/sweaty). You will be going into shock, and if you aren't given epinephrine quickly and correctly, you will quite probably die. Lobster, shrimp, crabs and crustaceans in general constitute the shellfish family. I would go to an allergist to rule out or find any other allergies that you may have. If you are allergic to shellfish, you will be allergic for life. Be careful not to eat any dishes that were prepared along with shellfish. You need to become educated as soon as possible as your life may depend on it. You may want to consider carrying an Epi-pen, which is a self-administered, predosed epinephrine injectable syringe. Consider wearing a life-alert tag or bracelet/neck chain so others will know if they find you passed out and wheezing for air.

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, only a medic, therefore my reply to you is personal advise only, not professional. You are responsible for any action, if any, that you take. Hope I helped.....good luck

In his/her case, it probably would. At least it would improve his/her breath....
