You know those giant chess boards that have chess pieces that are like half your size? Well my question is, which ones do you like to play with more, the big ones or the regular ones? Personally, I think the small ones are either to grasp in your hand and move back and forth, although 'tis somewhat more satisfying to win with the bigger ones. What do you think?

i like the standard staunton set made of wood and pieces stained dark and natural wood, with 3 1/2 inch kings.

Know what you mean Coquette. I have several good sets, but the Staunton 31/2 inch piece set feels sensuous when sliding over the high finish inlay boardf. I study chess openings, etc and use my boards instead of the computer. Have 6 boards set up, and really love wooden pieces. The feel is unbelievable compared to plastic. Take care and enjoy what you have.

For me, the size of the pieces relative to the squares of the board are very important. The larger the board, the smaller the pieces (bigger but relatively less) is my preference. Any size is ok as long as you can a) still see the individual pieces and lines and b) have a good perspective and overview. Also, the larger the set, the more I prefer 2-D view versus 3-D.

I like it big.

Its the size of the piece that counts. No one really cares about the moves it makes.
