Neither Presidental candidates seem like the best the counrty has to offer. Does it seem to any of you that best among us have nothing to do with politics? It appears to be something like acting. You have to look the part to get in the running. If some brillant little ugly guy was to run for President, and had no personality, but he had the best ideas to come out of a human in years. He could change the world for the better with his marvelous ideas, but he does not fit the mold for the leader of the free world. It's a movie star world we live in. It's all about image.

You do appear to be correct. I saw a bumper sticker the other day that I want; it said, "Bartlett is my President." I would love to have the people from the show in office and the people that run the show running everything. ๐Ÿ™‚

The same principle was at work in our school days. The jock or cheerleader got elected student body president, not the smart, thoughtful rolley-polley kid.

And what part does Bush look? That of the village idiot? He sure doesn't look like anything remotely reassuring as far as I can see. I can't stand the sight of him, he physically repulses me. I have to turn the channel if he's on for more that five seconds at a time.

He does look like the classic idiot. But he comes from a royal family, and he knows the right people. Or the wrong people. It's all how you look at it.

Our iilustrious (insert sarcasm) leader here in Australia has as much personality as a goldfish, perhaps this is why he gets on so well with Bush.

I agree, Rob. He's unabashedly arrogant, and way, way, way out of touch with what is really going on in Iraq. He placates us with catchphrases like "We're making progress" and "We've turned a corner". Meanwhile, here in the real world, the man who is responsible for the worst crime ever on US soil is still at large, Iran is resuming their nuclear ambitions, and in Iraq there are 31 more potential hostage-beheading videos waiting to be made. Some progress.

The consensus now seems to be that Bush looks stupid in order to confuse and frighten his enemies (eg terrorists, liberals, the French), while reassuring some people that, despite his enormous wealth and connections, he's really an ordinary Joe at heart.

it is widely accepted that if the election campaigns had been televised instead of over radio that Roosevelt (IMO the best president of the 20th century, and the inventor of modern diplomacy) would never have been elected because he was in a wheelchair.

I've seen George W Bush wear glasses on TV, but that was here in Britain - maybe the images didn't make it out in the ultra-tightly-controlled media channels of the US

Yeah! You know, thats the same exact way I feel about Kerry! Ever hear a more boring, double talking human? At least the man knew how to marry money so he could climb the ladder๐Ÿ˜ต๐Ÿ˜ต...cant stand the sight of him, have to change the channel when he shows up.

Not that I'm one to defend Bush, but this argument can be applied to Kerry as well.

So true man. What ever happened to the strong, silent type?
