ban them, and they come back on another account. cheaters. i dislike them, sure, but i fail to understand why people make such a big deal about it? little can actually be done about it. and does it really matter? they're rating may be a bit inflated, but everyone elses shall stay the same. it's only a game!!! 😛

I agree, who cares? You should be happy that these people are on the site, they make us who don't cheat seem a lot more intelligent. Anyone who wastes time making an artificially high rating has a real problem, we should be pleased that we are not sad enough to resort to such measures.
It soon becomes apparent you're not playing a human when you find EVERY move they make is the right one!
Even in my best games I make mistakes, sometimes from a clear winning position I lose because of missing THE move(s) - (did this only last night), whereas if you're playing a computer they NEVER miss the winning move. I would just like to be told that's all 😕

He is human, and won't miss a mate in 4 I am sure.
Other than that, playing a cheat stinks!

David Tebb is definitely a real human : he bought me a pint on Saturday night. Cheers Dave ! I have seen him make plenty of mistakes over the years but he is a strong chess player. As I think is everyone who is in the top 20. If anyone thinks that any of the top 20 has been cheating, they should say so, but after checking out their games first.

Actually this could work. They get banned from RHP and their 'puter is cut off from RHP. Make another account on RHC. banned. Another account on TFC and so on.........
and there was once a fig in the top 20 (check out the thread entitled "fig in the top 20"...)

well, he can no longer complain if he finds you with anything-you should try asking him for some?
aso russ-how about a feature to block people's IP's rather than just the account, to help prevent the return of tuco etc?

Most people don't have static IP addresses, so each time they dial up, they get a new IP address. So this method doesn't work, unfortunately.

Thread: GameKnot"
I just joined this site but I have played in other sites
and it is always the same. People worry about cheaters.
I have been playing chess since 1957 and have been
a member of USCF for almost that many years. My
rating with them is quite high but I am sure there
will be people always wondering. Since the dawn of
internet/email chess there is too much paranoia over a
subject that can never be proven. My rating with
USCF is about 2100 for correspondence chess and in other
sites it is about the same Elo. Assuming your opponent
is cheating only ruins the game for you and accusing someone
of cheating can not be proven and causes nothing but hard
feelings. To be absolutely sure your opponent is human play
OTB but then again Fischer accused the Russians of cheating in
that venue as well. 😉 I always assume my opponent
is human to do otherwise I may as well not play.
I wouldn't ban cheaters, but make them wear a Mark of Shame next to their name (where the star normally goes; I'm sure someone can think of a good mark.) Then everyone would know they had cheated, but it would give them a chance of mending their ways, rather than just cheating on another chess site.
