I've found that when I'm playing chess, I see patterns (tactical opportunities, positional relationships, etc.) on the soccer field (football pitch). Someone in a recent forum thread that I can't find said something similar, but it wasn't about sports. Does anyone experience the same thing with soccer or other pursuits?
(Doesn't seem to work as well with indoor soccer as with outdoor, though--maybe it's the number of players or the speed of the game.)
Originally posted by HolyTIndoor soccer has several issues relating to lighting and acoustics. Outdoor soccer often includes those little orange wedges. I like those. With chess I like coffee, but not oranges. Then again, if you're in an aisle seat, it's easier to stretch your legs...maybe even get up and walk around. They probably won't let you play soccer though. Therefore, I think it's kind of a non-issue.
