If by chess you mean the game that cheers men's souls, that smoothes out the tensions of the day, that gives gentle perspective to one's view of life, then I am for it. But if by chess you mean the devil's game that rends families, destroys careers and ruins one's ability to work, then I am against it.

It seems to me that Christian chess players, if they are to be true to their ethos, should behave as follows when playing:

if you're slapped on the cheek, turn the other cheek
so, if someone takes your piece, ...[text shortened]... ot covet thy neighbour's wife
the queen is the wife of the neighboring king...so is off limits
