Which Windows folder?
Ccleaner will clean up all the crap on your computer, if that's any use.

Uninstall everything you don't want any more.
You know when you install the windows software, say ME or Xp,
then the Windows folder is maybe 4Gb.
Then after a year of use, the windows folder is 10Gb. How do you clean that up and restore it back to 4Gb?
I need all the programs, but don't the programs belong to program files folder and not windows folder?
Originally posted by RahimKgo hunt where the stuff is, then delete if you don't need it.
Windows->Desktop
8Gb in there.
Is that folder really necessary? Because aren't the files double stored?
Well hm...not double stored but...
Nevermind. I think I gotta delete some of the stuff on here and it will be okay then.
desktop folder is not in the windows folder though, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. but hunting it down still works in most cases.
maybe you've just put the stuff into recycle bin without emptying it? the space won't be freed before you empty the bin.

Windows ME (yes I know I know)
My computer->C drive ->Windows ->desktop
and all my desktop stuff is in that folder. So it's like it's stored twice.
Not sure what that's about.
Now it got me thinking, maybe I was right the first time.
Is this stuff saved twice, taking twice as much room?

Originally posted by RahimKSorry, I laughed. They are the same folder. No offense but if you didn't know that you may not want to poke around too much. Also, if you're using a machine with ME you may want to upgrade to a new box altogether.

Originally posted by RahimKSuzianne's right. If you delete what's in that desktop folder, you're taking it off your desktop. If they are only shortcuts on your desktop that's one thing, but you may end up deleting program files or your hard drive. Messing with this stuff is a very bad idea. You should set a system restore point before you touch anything, just in case.
