What does it mean when I receive a "Mail Delivery Failed" e-mail stating that an e-mail I sent did not go through but the e-mail that was rejected was not at all sent by me nor do I recognize the address I sent it to?

The subject apparently said "Re: Thanks!" but WTF I didn't send any e-mail like that! Is there something effed here?!

It's probably just spam... but you could also check your computer for viruses and make sure your virus scanner is up to date. You might be sending out emails and not even know it!

That subject is almost as bad as if it were "Re: Sorry" or something!

No it doesn't. Is there anyone here who knows what they're talking about that can help me? How is my computer sending e-mails that I don't know about? This is my work computer and we all use the same e-mail client and server.

Just spam, eh? Would the e-mails not show up in my Outlook Sent Items folder?

Somone else Is sending mail using your e-mail address, Its easy to do, somhow you got on a spmmers list, and they are sending e-mails and acting like it came from your address, when an e-mail dont go through, it e-mails you and tells you that it didnt go through

Edit, It could be a Virus doing it too

Yup, what fly said... I get them also.

If they were in your outbox, it would be a virus. It's still a good idea to run virus scan, or you might get the 'toast' like I did several weeks back. Still installing programs and recording CD's to my library.

Gah.

I just had to ditch my old computer . It had a trojan horse that was almost impossible to get rid of and my avg antivirus did nothing to stop it getting in . The trojan horse sends out spam to other computers from mine . I would get the"undeliverable mail " message like yours , and there would be nothing in my sent items box . Sounds like what you've got . Has your pc been running really slow lately ?

Two things:

1-It's SPAM
2-Somebody tried to send you spam, but your email blocker denied it

Either way, it's SPAM

dont have to be,
give me your e-mail address, and without me even sending you an e-mail, I can make you recieve a "Undeliverable Message" from an ISP, stating that the message YOU sent, could not be sent

You can always fdisk the hard drive, reformat it and reinstall the operating system. But yeah, it's a good excuse to upgrade to the wife! 🙂

It's SPAM. Let's leave it at that. It's work's computer and if it's a virus, let's let them deal with it. 😉
