So, they got me. First time in 10+ years of smoking.
I sent this letter to Glendale and Los Angeles Police Departments. Hopefully some police actually read it.
To the Officers of the Glendale and Los Angeles Police Departments,
I am sending you this note because I was pulled over by police from the Glendale Police Department recently for ...[text shortened]... live there. I may post it elsewhere as well.
With great respect,

😲 ....INadmissable.

And if you believe all that - [which I presume is a wikipedia or similar article] - you'll believe anything. The operative word is [b]reasonable and the cops in the UK are well known to be expert liars, and hence ANYTHING can be made to sound ...[text shortened]... ggered as he got out of the car"[/i] - reasonable...blah blah blah.
Yeah yeah yeah!!!![/b]

It is from reaction tests and you would be amazed at what slowing your reaction time by .3 seconds can be the difference between you being able to safely stop your vehicle and being involved in an accident, or worse, injuring or killing someone. I would like to see a permanent ban on your right to drive if you drive impaired one time. There are way too many people who think like you do and they don't have a clue about what they are talking about. The only way a car kills someone is through mechanical failure or human error. In most cases, the mechanical failure is at least partially due to human negligence on keeping the vehicle in safe condition to drive.
Probably the same way I'd react if one of my family members had been killed by somebody taking Aspirin/ and driving. I guess I'd be pretty upset. Cars are killing machines no matter who is behind the wheel. Have you got something against all drivers?
People can speculate and regurgitate all they want, but I know for a fact, sorry FACT! that [b]I'm[/ ...[text shortened]... riving? Do you smoke in the presence of others? Do you ever go over the speed limit?

You obviously have a link to the scientific study from which you extracted this brilliant thesis, right?

But you're right. I was being irresponsible.

Dude, all you got was a ticket for having pot in your car. How different is that from getting a ticket for having open liquor in your car?
Don't see too many letters complaining that we should be able to have open liquor in our cars because we are "pursuing happyness".
Anyway, marijuana smokers have been shown to be just as safe drivers as sober people, which is not the case with alcohol.
Originally posted by Ice ColdThe police have my respect now. They really don't want to piss me off. The LAPD is already in deep doo doo for the MacArthur Park episode. I never treated police disprespectfully, even when they're busting me. If they decide to taser my peaceful stoner ass it will not go well for them.
Great way to get a tazer next time they pull you. 😕
Anyway, I don't plan to spend much time in Glendale any more.
And they don't know who I am, though they could probably figure it out if they cared enough. If they care that much then they've read what I had to say.

the obvious reason is that you are complaining to the wrong people...
write your congressmen, not the police...
the police can't do anything but enforce, whether or they not agree, the laws set forth by Congress
as far as your pursuing happiness claim, it doesn't matter whether it makes you happy or not, marijuana impairs driving in many of the same ways alcohol does...
the officer has to assume you were under the influence of marijuana at the time of the arrest because you had it on your persona
besides, as a question to yourself: why do you think marijuana brings happiness, true happiness, to your life?

Marijuana does not impair driving. I just linked to quite a few references on that point.
The point is not whether marijuana brings happiness to my life. The point is that I have the right to try it and see if it does. And in fact, I enjoy it tremendously and I have for ten years.
You don't think the opinions of police officers have any political weight? I think that's a big mistake.
Originally posted by rubberjaw30The officer has to assume you were under the influence because you were in possession of it? Er I don't think so. No assumptions can be made unless a blood test is taken.

Marijuana bringing real happiness, well possibly, it releases endorphins, as for 'real' happiness define exactly what you mean?

it presents a possibility as fact, when in actuality the American Heart Association warns strongly against the consumption of any alcohol ever
i defy you to show a test conducted by a government agency that says marijuana does not affec reaction time...
